OT: John in La.

They in season now? John was goin to treat me and teach me how to eat some. I'll have to get down that way soon.

Buddies and I had a good time trapping some here in MI, clear water too, and after 2 days we had like 175 or so to split between 5 of us. Worst things I ever ate lol.

I really do not know.
Daughter said she saw some at the local store for $6 lb last month during that warm spell we had. That was the boiled price so live would have been cheaper especially since you can only find live by the sack.

This cold weather has driven them back underground so they may be higher now.

If it don't warm up quick I might be eating a lot of beans this year as we only have 4 more weeks before I can not have any red meat.

The red swamp crawfish (Procambarus clarkii) we eat and the white river crawfish (Procambarus acutus) you guys got is two totally different things.

I had some boiled shrimp when I was living in Rantoul Ill. Worse tasting thing I ever put in my mouth. Them yanks need some cooking lessons if they wanta try cooking southern food.

Never knew that, figured it looked like an edible crawfish, it must be a.....

And me'n my buddies are certainly not cooks as you are apparently aware, lol

I've eaten them but prefer Louisiana Brown Shrimp. Bugs just have too heavy a flavor for me.....but I watched a many a Cajun "suck the heads".........sack of bugs and a couple of longnecks, no bread, no veggies, nothing but what I said......ugh.

Yes I realize there are numerous dishes where they are the meat of choice. I am referring to the die hard head sucker. In Houston, TX. I know of a restaurant where you can buy a bag and a beer or other recipies.
