im fixing a flat on my 1971 f-350 its a commercial chassis with a 35 foot hydraulic ladder and bucket on it, i have been around these old trucks when they were new, but that was a long time ago ,this is the first time ive pulled a wheel off this truck since ive owned it , bought it a couple years ago, the wheels are 16 inch split rims, i grew up changing these, but its been years since ive indulged, the wheel mounting flange where the lugs go has dimples, like the early 1970's dodges had, this is the first time i remember pulling one on a ford, anybody remember if ford used these back in the day? the thing is currently a life saver as im hauling river silt and mud all day with a peterbilt 379, it requires the bed to be scraped clean every night after work as well as the whole truck washed, here on the farm without this bucket truck, well, it would make the job almost impossible

Yes, ford had the dimples that you had to line up with each other on the duals. Careful with those lock rims. The wheels get rusty and break off when you air them up. The later ones had pins that lined up with a hole.

From the factory there is a roll pin used as a locator to line up the wheels and drums. Most have been broken off over the years from not lining them up but look for them anyway.(They keep the holes lined up so you can air up the inside tire)

this one still has its pins, its spent its life in the high desert of nm, so nothing more than surface rust, wire brushing cleans the wheel and ring up like new, just couldnt remember if ford used these wheels and the truck is mostly still original, flat all fixed and back on the truck now

Ford was smart enough to get away from the coined wheels and use 2 piece lug nuts. Dodge stuck with them through 93. If I got one of those dodges first thing I would do is toss those 350 ft-lb lug nuts and get the Ford ones.
