Thermostat for modine heater

SIL is hooking up my modine gas heater tomorrow as I can,t with my new pacemaker just 4 days old. What I want to know is how many thermostat wires do we need to run between the heater and thermostat if I also want to run the heater fan in the summer. Will 3 wires do it. The voltage is 24volts. Also any suggestion on a thermostat.

Just run a 4 wire, it is cheap.

Are you sure it is 24v? Most are line voltage, best be sure, makes a difference on the wire and thermostat.

If it is line voltage, need line voltage stat, 2 wires and a ground. It probably won't have a fan only option, but you can add another switch, need 1extra wire.

If it's 24v, 3 wire tstat wire, common, heat, fan. I like the basic digital battery operated tstat. No particular brand, no frills.

I would run a 4 wire. Better safe than sorry.

You will need at least 3 wire, red 24 v hot, w heat wire, g fan wire, and as an optional fourth wire a black for a 24 v neutral to power the thermostat instead of using a battery powered stat
