International grain drill worth

Lets see if I can get the picture to load. Can anyone tell me this grain drills worth? I know zero about it. Seller is asking $1000.00

I have found cheaper but all on steel wheels. I'd like rubber and this one is easy in the best shape I have found.

Well, in my part of MN it would be high. On the other hand,
$500 doesn't get you much at all. If there was room to move a
little, I'd be pretty comfortable in that $700-$800 range myself.
If $500 got me something " needing a little work", and $800 got
me a machine that was truly field ready, I'll spend the $800
and be ready when the time to plant comes.

It does look pretty good. Just check it over good and make sure nothing is rusted fast. Good drills that size and in good shape can be hard to find as most that have them tend to keep them. Hard for them to justify a new one when the old one still gets the job done. Besides it gives a good reason to get the smaller older tractors out to play with. I bought an IH 10 drill close to 10 years ago. Don't use it a lot, but when I need it it's there. I think I gave $875 for mine.

I bought a #10 24 hole with grass seed last summer in S. D. for $200.00 It was in pretty good shape. I bought it for the grass seed box. It has the big 20 inch rubber on it. I would sell the rest of the drill,(everything but the grass box)if you would like. I am in western MI.

I have the "litte brother" of that one. Mine appears to be 3 or 4' narrower. And mine has 3 set of hopper. Mine will do small grass seed, then it has the grain drill hopper, and also a fertilizer hopper. 3 sets of doors.

Mine is not in that good of shape. But I think it is still usable.

$ 1000 seems a little high. I have an 8 ft. Just like that in
perfect condition. I think that one may be missing, the platform
boards across the back to stand on when filling the boxes? Are
you sure you want a clutch lift? On mine you can run just one
side down for small areas. We picked ours up for $ 200 but
that's been a few years back before everybody started
reselling every farm auction implement on Craigslist for $ 200
more then they paid for it the day before..

Al,

I might be interested in that drill, depending on price. I'm in SE Michigan, and looking for a drill I can use on a few acres a year.

I guess the market varies a lot across the country. Around here that drill would easily bring $1000. It is in good shape. The clutch lift would be a plus in you have an older tractor with out very good remote hydraulics.

Wasn"t too many years ago I sold 2 MM ten foot drills, trip lift, on rubber, with grass seeders, for about $300 apiece. Wouldn"t pay a grand for that IH. I bought my 13 foot JD 8300, with grass seeder, for around $2200.

The key word here is "asking." If the seller is ASKING for $1000, that tells me that there may be some room for negotiation. I'd make a lower offer, but not so low as to hack the guy off. Maybe he would meet you in the middle, and you would both walk away happy.

$200 to $300 drill here in Ontario. If you look around a bit in our area you can buy a decent IH 510 with markers and press wheels for $1000. I have bought two in that price range.

Steel wheel drill in good working condition and in 12-8 or 13-7 sizes around 5-700$ around here but they do have to have the clutch lift. Fertilizer or not does not matter.
