Hey I was wondering how many of you get the velocity channel 281 my menu goes 280 to 282. I would like to watch the Outlaw pulling series they show

Sorry, I have Dish, channel 246 for velocity. Only thing I dislike is Dish's battle with Fox!

Gunny, in Iowa

I agree GunnyIa.
Dish don't get Fox news back by Feb 1.
I won't have Dish any longer.
I sent them a email letting them know.
They gave me a $50 rebate but, I told them
to me, Fox news was priceless.

I understand part of the Dish Fox disagreement is because Fox wants Dish to take more Fox channels on.. I told Dish that you do the same to me. I have over 200 channels Dish makes me take in order to get the 10 that I watch. :?:

I watch Velosity about every night, and I've never seen any mention of tractor pulling on there. It is all automotive stuff. (Dish Net)
You would think that there would be tractor pulling on RFDTV, but their focus has shifted to to pleasing the Horsey people, and tractor stuff gets pluged into time slots when I am working. or about 2:00AM in the morning. Not very happy with RFDTV anymore.
Loren, the Acg.

Right there is the reason that I no longer have a signal provider.
Started out that I set a high limit on how much I would pay for TV. Being as I never had much time or inclination to sit in front of a TV, its value to me is limited hence the high limit on what I would pay. The cable company exceeded that limit. Still, I did not cancel.....YET. Then they had a second price increase a few months later, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Shopped around and ended up getting Dish for a little more than HALF what the cable company was charging. Of course, after a while the price slowly rose to my high limit price...and then there was the issue of equipment failures.....
When I was with Dish for around 6 years or so, I had to have the receiver replaced 14 times. Then they wanted to charge me for service calls to replace their junk equipment. That ended that relationship.

It always did annoy me that I had to pay for 200 channels to get the few that I would actually watch. It also bothered me that the "cable only" channels like History, Discovery, National Geographic, and others became loaded with commercials. Seems to me that the whole idea of being "cable only" was to eliminate the endless barrage of commercials that we have to suffer through on the "broadcast" channels.

OK. Rant over with <grin>!

Yea RFD TV had pulls last night at midnite CST then Classic Tractors after it....made me wonder...what farmer or such is even up at that time of night? RFD is not much use to me anymore.

I understand their feud also. However I agree that Fox is doing nothing to them they don't do to us. maybe Dish should drop AlJazzer, MSNBC and another 20-30 of the garbage channels and pick up the Fox channels?

classic tractors is on Saturday mornings at 11:30 before that is the mecum tractor auction. Dad and I watch the auction together. we enjoy it.

ey, if you want that ONE more channel, you will probably have to add another "package" of 20 more useless channels costing an additional $25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a HD channel. Likely just disabled on your receiver. Had it on the two with DVRs here and not in my office. Called Direct up and they sent out a tech. He worked through the menus and enabled it on the office TV. If you have a HD set you should be able to have someone walk you through enabling it as you are likely already paying for that channel.

I'm with you Allentown, when Spring comes I'm doing away with the satellite company, I have had it with the barrage of commercials, I timed them the other night, 4 minutes of commercials, then 8 minutes of show. I plan on setting an antenna for free TV (I will still have commercials but won't be paying to see them) and setting up with Nextflic. I am paying $85 for Direct with no movie channels, I will miss the History and RFD channels but that's just the way it goes. When I look at the Gambit of channels there are more than 75% that are Info-mercials.Maybe if enough people get fed up and drop them it could get better, but they are probably making so much money that it won't matter...I would like to be able to actually "choose" the channels I want to buy, those "Filler" channels are worth nothing to most..

Pretty easy to just record it, with Dish. Although I may not have that capability much longer- like several who commented below, if they don't get Fox News back by the end of the month, I'm gone.

I think those "filler" channels are so that comedians like Jerry Clower can say "I've got 2,000 channels, and they call me a hick?" I saw that one, and I almost swallowed my teeth that someone could say that their channel count determines their level of sophistication......

On a lighter note, I have been using a converter box and a small antenna for the local channels and news, and Netflix for programming content. Nice thing about Netflix - you can watch whatever you want (that they have), no commercial interruptions, can pause, repeat, replay, and even take a break to go to the kitchen for a snack or whatever.
You won't get the latest episode of Gold Rush, but there is so much to choose from that it would take several lifetimes to see it all. Now, I can catch up on all of the old TV shows that I missed over the years!

I left Dish about 5 days after they stopped Fox channels. Friday I took the amp down to the UPS store. Dish mailed me a prepaid box. I asked the clerk there if she had seen many others going backs and she rolled her eyes and said "Lots".

I've got it now since we upgraded to HD. Have you checked channel 214? It's MAVTV,they have pulling on there.

You're right though. I kicked the dish down the road several years ago and never went back. Antenna TV & YouTube works fine for me.

Mecum Tractor Auction , Classic tractors , and Machinery Pete are all on Saturday morning out here, Starting @ 8:30.....and again on thursday after noon .This is on Dish . My box quit , and during the call to replace it I whined about FOX being shut off for so long , and they upgraded me to a two room 2 remote box with DVR for free !!! I'll stay with DISH !!

I'm not a tv news watcher. but that sounds like a great idea! I wish I could drop all the sports channels and ethnic channels and home shopping channels. My wife watches the "This is the house no one can possibly afford" channels and the "How to kill your husband and get away with it" murder channels, I watch old movies and History and the kids watch kid type channels. We all watch the Western channel and local news. Other than that it's 250 channels of nothing.

Yes, it would be nice if you could take your $39.99 for 200 channels, pare it down to the 10 channels you actually watch, and only pay $1.99 a month for service, but it just doesn't work that way.

You're better off just ignoring the channels you don't watch because the alternative would cost you a lot more each month.

Dish pays each network so much per subscriber, and the more subscribers they can claim have a network, the less per subscriber they have to pay that network. When you can spread the cost out among millions of subscribers, the cost is anywhere from less than one cent to a few cents per channel.

If only the people that consciously subscribed to the channels had to pay for them, the cost would be much higher per person.

Fact of the matter is, channels like RFD, MAVTV, and Velocity would probably cease to exist because very few people would willingly subscribe to them a-la-carte.

BTW, Fox will be back on Dish sooner or later. This happens to one or the other major providers every couple years. All involved act like spoiled children for a while, then they finally agree on a deal once one or the other realizes they're losing money.

In other words it's kinda like external_link Care :(

Try typing in the channel number directly on the remote. If it works that way, you just have to go to 'settings' and 'guide' and add the channel to the guide. It happens any time a channel goes to HD from regular---it disappears from the guide list.
