A photo of the Midwest taken from the International Space Station.
Chicago and Detroit are pretty obvious, as is Toronto.
The Twin Cities is about half way up the right hand side of the solar panel.
My guess is Indianapolis is at the bottom right corner of the panel and maybe St Louis and Des Moines at the opposite corner.

I think I can even see Ionia,Greenville and Carson City Mi. If that's right, that might be my mercury light that I can see. lol

I have flown across this country on a clear night and the only dark spots are the lakes, think of all the energy for the lights!

So, is the bright spot on the lower right corner of the solar collector Indy? If it is, the bright spot below the left panel might be Terre Haute.

Ok ,I can't see my house either, In fact I can't see Lake Ontario, just Michigan Erie and Huron. I think what you think is Toronto is actually London Ontario. Toronto is on Lake Ontario and has 6,000,000 people, so it would be a bigger splotch of light than you see in this picture. nice picture . Bruce

Quite a picture. See Louisville on bottom left. Computer shows a darker-lighter line going from Indianapolis to Cincinnati in bottom center. That might be snow cover line on the right of picture and none on the left of that line. And the aurora borealis in the northland. Thanks for the shot.

I believe Bruce from Canada to be correct, not Toronto, but London Ont. Toronto sits on the north shore of Lake Ontario, the lake in the bottom right corner is lake Erie.
My place is there somewhere, I will go out and wave a trouble light, you guys watch!

That's why I took down the Christmas lights today, just couldn't stand the glare. Seriously, I can pick out Coldwater, lights from Mastronardi's 60 acre greenhouse and the prison on the north side of town make quite a glow in the sky at night. Quite a picture when you can pick out just about every town in the area.

See Columbus, Dayton, Milwaukee, Lansing, Grand Rapids, South Bend/ Elkhorn/ Mishawaka, Fort Wayne, even follow highway 30 and the interstates.
Wonder if the farthest spot east of Cleveland is Ashtabula or Erie.

Living in the ghetto right now talking care of my folks. We have had vehicles broke into and two vehicles stolen right off of our property parked right underneath a bright security lamp on the electrical pole about 6 feet away! one was taken after 6 am when i had just got home from work driving a semi. They had been watching me.Most burglaries now i believe happen at noon when most people are gone from home!

Did anyone see the night time Sat photo of North Korea two weeks ago? it was a big dark area between South Korea and Southern China.

Toronto doesn't show in this picture. That light in Southwestern Ontario is London, population 350,000. With approximately 6 million people in the Greater Toronto area, if it were on the map it would far outshine London, Detroit, etc.

That's pretty neat picture. I can see my area. Rockford, Beloit, Janesville lined up, then go east and I can barely pick out the Walworth County threesome (Delavan, Elkhorn, Lake Geneva)

Thanks for sharing this picture.
