Quick Hitch update

Well my Pat's Quick Hitches came in yesterday. I got the Cat 2 and they are mighty husky, cast iron made in USA. I read through the instructions and looks like Pat thought out/worked out the bugs and they ought to really do the trick. I think they'll be worth every penny I paid.

If you are tired of mounting implements on tractors without lift arm positioners and all the new gadgets (which my Branson has) then you might want to try a pair for yourself. I am really looking forward to using them.

I hope they work for YOU. They move the load back about 4 inches. This makes many top links too short to adjust the working angle correctly. Then watch the spacing bracket. It will hit any PTO shaft you try to use while it is installed.

City raised neighbor bought a Pat's setup a few years ago. He had torn up more stuff trying to use them than I can count. The most costly is PTO shafts. He ahs ruined 3-4 of them. Mainly with not taking the rod that holds the arms a set distance apart. He also has had the extra length on the arms make some shafts too short and them they slide apart too far.

I guess they can be a good thing but they are not golden either. Nothing is actually.

Most three point equipment is all different in the hitch dimensions. I do not think I have any two pieces that are exactly the same.

I have a set and they work really well. Had to shave one of the keepers so the cat. 2 would slip by, other than that nice.

Pats are far more flexible than a quick hitch to fit different spaced stuff.

The real problem you describe in your message are poor manufacturing that creates the nonstandard 3pt equipment, and a very uncaring operator.

Nothing is perfect, but Pats deal is one of the better compromises out there.

Just takes a little bit of brains to use thrm.

CASE had the same basic thing in the Eagle Hitch starting in 1949, one thing I like the EH units better for is the arms are rigid, nice for mowing as it keeps the mower centered behind the tractor, I do agree the adaptors you bought making hooking up much better most times

On removing the bracket they warn you about that in the instructions. Actually don't need it till you're ready to hook onto something else.

They caution you on that too and suggest you get a longer 3rd member. I have one already and if too short, I'll just cut it in half, lengthen with a couple of pieces of angle iron and be about my business..

On the varying dimention between lift pins, if you happened across my first post a few days ago on that subject, that's why I cancelled the order for another brand with a fixed dimension for $90 and bought Pat's for $190. Butttt Pat's is more functional and I think I will like them better in the long run.

I guarantee you, anything will be better than having to do what I currently have to do on these tractors. My Branson with all it's whistles and bells spoiled me.

I looked at those quick latches. Went with a I-Match quick coupler+a Hyd top link. It was amazing how different our tools were. Not over 2 worked without modifications. But after, no comparison. Example just came in from taking bale spear from loader putting on bucket. Bale carrier from 3 point to blade. Just got off once. Ready for storm tomorrow. Vic
