Gleaner E Combining 1976

This is my dad and younger brother harvesting the
wheat close by our house in July of 1976. My older
brother and I spent many an hour riding with Dad on
that old combine. I wouldn't trade if for the world
now. We would always reach back into the hopper under the auger and get a pinch of the wheat and put it between our teeth to see if it was dry or not. Ate a lot of it too...

Good old days. I remember combining with my Grandpa, dad, uncle and of course the kids, cousin, brother and me. Not sure why we liked to ride those dirty machines but we did and couldn't wait to be old enough to run them ourselves. I still have Grandpa Minneapolis Moline G144 Combine he bought new in 1956. Its only ever been on my brothers farm (dads) and mine (uncles) in almost 60 years

Do you happen to have any pictures of your G-144? I know they are pretty much the same as the G4 with an updated engine but hope you are able to keep it around. Ive only seen pictures. Where in SD are you at?

I bought a new EIII around 1973 or so and it was really a nice little combine. Wish I had it back.

I have a like new parts manual for a G144 combine and a used operators manual for a G4. We had a G4 and the dealer gave the G144 parts manual.
If you need either of these I'll send them to you. I don't want anything, just would like to see someone use them. I do have to locate them, but they are here somewhere.
