You never know what you will run across on the internet. I didn't know this is a problem. People peeing in plastic bottles and tossing them out the window. Then in hot weather road side cleaning crews come along and pick up the bottle, and some explode from the heat. Even mowing with a tractor seams to be a problem. I don't think I would like have my mower covered with that. I see that a lot on long stretches of desert roads. Yellow filled plastic bottles are everywhere out here on the left coast. The article says most are from truckers, but it can be from anyone I believe. I don't know about you guys, but when I have to go, I have to go now. I stop along the road and open the passenger door, grab a water bottle and, make like I am having a drink, while watering the grass, and my door if I am not careful. Stan

Before going on a tractor ride with the club a few years ago we were warned not to do any pitstops...something about a new law that went into effect. Now they haul a porta-potti with one of the tractors.

My wife will kill me if she reads this, 10 years ago my wifes uncle had a heart attack at work and passed away in the hospital. His wife had passed 3 years before him and they had no kids. At the funeral my wife was asked by his sister if she and I would go over and clean his place up and cut the grass till they figured out what was going to be done with the place. We said we would. He had kept the place nice and clean and proper looking, But his bed room was a different story. The place looked like Mr Rogers lived there and the bed room looked like pig pen lived there! He was a drinker (had been for years) and every night on the way home from work he stopped at a bar and got a gallon of beer in a milk jug to bring home. As I cut the grass my wife cleaned the fridge out and went to his room to clean. Now the place had been closed up for 2 weeks and it was 95* out side and 110 inside. I heard a scream and went running in to the house to find her standing there socking wet head to toe and steam coming off her head, Then the smell hit me! WOW!!!!!! 14 2 liter Mountain Dew went off when she hit one, They didn't have Mountain Dew in them if you know what I mean. I don't think I ever seen a person so mad in my life as she was that day!

Ever now and then she asks me to get her a soda I will ask her if she wants a Mountain Dew? I just get THAT LOOK! You know the LOOK I'm talking about! Bandit

I know what you mean. My wife still gives me a dirty look if I mention Ford Pinto station wagons over an incident that happened 30 years ago.

I heard on the news last summer that the highway department in ohio was having trouble disposing of pee bottles because there were so many along I-75 and I-70 interchange at Dayton ohio. They say truck drivers fill them and pitch them out the window. There were so many it was considered hazardous waste.

I see the "P" bottles around here on the interstate as well.

What makes me absolutely furious is when I see some farmers ball of round bale twine that has fallen off his truck and is on the side of the road. Then the county mowers come along and run right over it and eat the bearings up on the mowers, at tax payers expense. That makes me boil and I farm and feed round bales. I will guarantee that I have never left any twine on the road.

The guys pull the twine/net wrap off a round bale in the pasture and then just throw it on the flatbed and head down the highway at 70mph expecting it to just ride there like a hundred pound weight. That is the height of laziness if you ask me. Bob

IN the OLD DAYS of truck the only difference between a truck drive and a dog was a dog peed on the tires and a truck driver peed between them

Don't know about other brands of soda, but if you drink half a bottle of pepsi, replace the cap, and throw it in the yard, in warm weather, leave it there for two weeks, and go check on it, the contents will be P colored.

May our lives never get anymore complicated than a pee bottle. Yeah and that is true coke will turn to pee color when in sun.

I mowed cemetery along us 24 the grass on road ditch was full of mountain dew bottles with chew spit in them they were hard to see in grass until you hit one with mower then it was all over you and that stuff burns when your sweating and not fun to get in eyes

We live along a highway and see the dumping all the time. Bet the people that do it would be POed if we tossed crap in there front yard. I simply do not understand why they toss out the bottles, every one stops for gas or a snack, just put them in the garbage then.

I could see myself peeing in bottle in emergency. Example driving in slow or stopped traffic due to accident or something. Only difference is when I did stop I would pour contents into the grass and dispose of empty bottle in trash can.

See them all the time mowing along the state highways, dont see too many mowing county roads. Have to watch to not to step on them when patching potholes and picking up trash when its hot out. Accidentally run them over when driving/working in the median or on the shoulder. Not a fun thing to have splashed all over the truck and anything nearby. Stinks after being baked in the sun. Ross

Isn't a bottle of chew spit wonderful? On the harvest I drove about every truck we had at some time or another. A truck that had a chew spit bottle laying on the floor was ridded of that disgusting vessel with immediate urgency and I didn't care where it landed when it exited the window.

I can't say that I have ever seen a bomb bottle but I have a stretch of hay field along a county road and I can't believe all the beer cans and glass booze bottles tossed, I wont cut there till I walk it and pick up all the glass and junk.

Besides stopping on an On-Ramp, I ran Team with some drivers who had a pet Wide-Mouth Bottle or Jug that they would pour out once they got out of the bunk..
I agree with the States that have put a Return Value (Deposit Value) on each container..
In those states, you don't see litter along the roads..
BUT, I am not surprised at what you do see in other states...
The "average American" has sunk pretty low...NO Class left usually..

Talk about roadside bombs. Last summer my grandson and I were walking down the road that goes past our house. He had his BB gun with him. He saw a qt beer bottle and asked me if he could shoot it. I told him OK because I clean up the road 1/2 mile on either side of our property and would pick up the bottle later. When the BB hit it, it exploded. Glass went everywhere. We were lucky neither of us got hit. The neck and cap landed in the road. It had never been opened. The seal was still intact.

These bottles might actually be explosive. The
latest way to home brew meth is the "one bottle"
method. Residue in bottle can still react and catch fire or explode. Meth heads don't care how they get rid of them.

I was walking along the road bordering our farm one day and a car came by. The passenger was peeling a banana and threw he peel out right in front of me. Talk about no class!

Don't know if he saw it, but he got a look that would have left even his shoes smoking!

My dad was in the airforce and we did lots of traveling. We were taught from day one that you never threw anything out the window. We put our trash where it belonged, in a trash can!!! I still observe that rule.

I know, but I mostly get excited about Bottles of ANY kind...and especially GLASS bottles...

We used to run in the Ditch, between farms here, but the Glass Bottles got so bad that we gave that up and just stayed on the full lane of the road...

These people can't seem to understand why we will not run half-off the road..!!!!

Even when I was crippled up with a Crushed Disc, I NEVER left a shopping cart without returning it to the store or area for them (and usually took another one with me) and it IRKS me to see "ABLE" people leave them out of sheer Laziness..

Ron.

to bad we couldnt convince the meth heads that them yellow filled bottles in the ditch give you a good high.
I would garrantee you they would pick them all up.
