power steering

I have a agri power 5000 tractor. was wondering if anyone knows what type power steering fluid it uses? The fluid in it now foams up and runs out the overflow tube. Tractors new to me and I don't have a book yet. Thanks

I believe your tractor was made by Zetor or some other import off brand. Brandon is right, can't go wrong with atf and it will not foam.

Foaming is a sign that someone has put motor oil in it with detergent. Your choices are to use a nondetergent oil or ATF. Most people prefer ATF. Drain as much of the motor oil out as you can and refill with ATF.

Does the tractor have an automotive style pump?

Reason I asked, had an old Clark forklift that did that. Whined and moaned, always full of air. If you topped it up, it would whip the fluid full of air and when you shut it off it would overflow. I took the pump apart, didn't see anything wrong, but went back with new seals and internal orings. Whatever I did fixed it. My theory was it was sucking air somehow, still don't know where or how, but it worked.

Sam I had been talking to you about your tractor you had for sale and I lost your phone number and your email I have does not work. I am still interested if you still have it. Wayne from pa.
