I saw down below where folks were talking about all the snow they were dealing with. Well here in Northern Virginia we were predicted to get a dusting close in to DC and out north and west they were supposed to get 2-3 inches first snow of the season. Then I see the highway department putting down the liquid pre-treatment; Uh-oh says I they know something the Media isn't telling us so I prepared.
We got 3-4 inches and everything stopped. Normal around here. Took me a couple of years when I first got here to realize Washington DC is really a southern town and they are so full of themselves that God is supposed to clear the road in front of them so they can speed into work. All the stop lights and signs are either at the bottom of the hills or in the middle.
Oh well I'll move further south when the wife retires.

Yep, we worked in DC for 5+ years. Got a laugh when we were flying into DC one winter during a snow storm. A lady passenger from DC said not to worry, they had good snow cleaning equipment at the airport. As we were landing, I saw ONE john deer tractor with a blade cleaning the runway!

At the beginning of Feb., and early Dec. 2013, we drove from CNY to Mooresville NC area, and back. We ran into major weather systems both times. First time down we stayed in Woodstock VA. By morning, we headed south in snow. There were two accidents on I81 N. we passed.
On the second trip, we came home right after a big storm blew through. Back up in that same area there were snow piles all over. Vehicles off the road. Hagerstown MD area several semis still off in the snow.
We thought we were heading south out of this crap!

don't go to much further south , my brother bought a home in Florida close to Fort Myers and it's hot as He!! there in the summer . Not only that there's alligators everywhere , just not use to not being able to let animals run free without an alligator scoffing them up . I'm in central Va. and so is my brother I'm glad we don't have to deal with those near the beltway . I have friends up past Leesburg very nice place to live as long as you don't have to come out of there. it is nice down in Florida in the winter if it wasn't for alligators.

Wouldn't it be funny if Allis Chalmers was still in business and made a "gator" like JD....it would literally be an "Alli-gator" lol.

Head south! After 50 years in central Maryland (DC-Metro Area) we have had enough of the ME state (it's all about me) And relocated to Gloucester County Va. Plowed snow in MD for years and clients would start crying when they had 1/2" on their lots. Guess they didn't want to get their shoes wet. Only been in VA a couple weeks but loving it. Now I need to change my user name.

We're far enough south, for our desires. Spent a few weeks in Florida for Thanksgiving, glad to get back. Never heard so much complaining when the temperature dropped below 70º for a couple of days. That was in the Keys.

I'm hoping for enough snow to toboggan down my driveway this year. Slope's just right, 1/2 mile run, enough curves to make it fun. Bit of a hike back up, but that's what tractors are for here.

Virginians don't seem to get enough practice driving in snow. Many aren't very good. I leave the roads to them. Keeps everybody happy.
