I posted about my brothers truck transfer case not engaging,
well this is what he found out today! He had a heck of a time
getting it off, one of the bolt heads stripped. Some how the
motor housing was cracked so corrosion got in it. What was
wrong with the stick shift for 4x4?

That old stick shift on the floor was in the way of some woman's knees so they had to do away with it and use electronic junk in its place so it would break down more often

The stick on my 97 F250 rusted so badly that I spent about an hour freeing it up and oiling the moving parts. Guess they need exercised once in a while too.

Calcium chloride sprayed on the roads now around Ohio.
Yep. Same stuff that eats away your tractor rims !!!

Pickup trucks were ruined by city slickers and women buying them. Then they had to go from function being the main ingredient to style and options . Its been downhill every since.

greed.

Yea they do , i had the same thing happen on a 79 Ford F250 that i plowed snow with . When i had to fix it i fixed it by drilling and tapping and added a grease fitting , you would be amazed how well a little shot of grease works when done with every drive line grease job.

The worst part is, because of all the gadgets and luxury, the people who need trucks the most, can't afford to buy new ones and have to settle for unreliable used trucks, where half the doo-dads don't work anymore, anyhow.

I remember my dad bought a 1989 F-150 xl supercab brand new. It was $18,900. I thought that was all the money in the world. I figured trucks could never get more expensive than that. Fast forward to 2015, and I have heard of guys using that $19,000 as a down payment!

My stick shift '92 F250 shifts itself into four wheel drive. There is a loose mount that I have not found that will allow it to shift under high torque conditions. Then the automatic hubs kick in and out.

One of the auto hubs went bad on my 97F250 after a few years and I put Warn manual hubs on. They've worked like a charm.
