International 444 hydraulic oil breather

When I remove the filler plug for the hydraulic oil reservoir (rear of tractor above the 3pt. arms) I can hear a gurgling sound as if the is some pressure built up in the reservoir. Is there a hydraulic oil breather or vent located somewhere on my international 444?

My 424 with a similar 3-point setup did the same thing.

Parts catalog calls for a pipe plug for the fill port, and I am not aware of any other provision for a breather.

I installed a 2" or 3" pipe nipple and a coupling into thefill port, and tapped the plug for a small hydraulic vent SIMILAR to the one in this photo:

Makes sense. My 424 simply has a cover plate there, with no port or breather. Parts catalog shows the same for the 444.

Thanks for all of the replies. I am undecided whether to install a vent or not... but will probably leave as is. I have a hydraulic leak somewhere underneath the tractor that drips oil on the underslung exhaust/muffler. I thought that maybe there was pressure in the reservoir and it was forcing the oil out. I'll have to investigate to see where the oil is coming from.
Thanks, Curt

Sounds more like an "old mechanic's wive's tale to me.

It is UNUSUAL, to say the least, for a hydraulic system not to be vented, and there's no reason to have it that way, to build pressure when the system heats up. It's simply asking for leaks past the three-point lift shaft and controls.

The engineers at Binder apparently eventually realized that, as it seems later models WERE vented.
