New Idea 308316 Needed

I also posted this on the implement forum but given the traffic here I hope someone can help.

My neighbor broke the throw out sprocket on his New Idea 329 Super Sheller. Sprocket p/n is 308316. It is on the throw out assembly. It is 14 tooth. It runs a 2050 chain. We could use the chain also. Item 29 in Scan.

Any help would be great.

I can't tell if that's a splined bore or keyed. One option would be a weld on sprocket. Go with a #50 sprocket with 28 teeth. If the hub is something splined, bring it to a machine shop and have them cut the old one off and weld on a new one.

Thanks Don. It is just a smooth I.D. All my leads are not panning out so I may be headed to a machine shop. Thanks. I am in La Crosse, WI. Paul

If you were closer to this side of the state I'd say to go to Madden machine in freedom- they're a gear shop that I used to work for and that was every day stuff that I did there.

Is it just pinned to the shaft then? Cast or steel? Either way shouldn't hurt it much as far as function. I know Madden would be able to give you a 5020 pitch sprocket that would match what you have now. Not sure what you have over there for shops.

Have you tried Agco? I needed a 20-50 sprocket for my picker and they still make it. It was on back order but I got it 3 days later. It was only $16 dollars too so that can't be beat. If you have tried them and they don't make it any more then I would do like Don't said and have a 50 sprocket made for it.

Thanks to both of you. Agco does not have this part anymore. We checked many many possibilities today. At the end of the day we took it to a machine shop, Chaseburg Manufacturing in Coon Valley WI. The part is all cast with a bushing. The center also has the throw out ramps. They are going to cutout the center by machining off the teeth and more (a ring), make new sprocket teeth on a ring on a flame cutter and then braze the two together. They were real helpful. They were going to make the drawings for the flame cutter tonight, machine the teeth off, and flame cut the ring and teeth in the morning and then braze it together. Should have it tomorrow late.

Anyway, that is the plan. Thanks.

We have got and old sheller we would sell for parts. It is in Owosso MI could be hauled on a roll back type of pickup. This would be the complete sheller. I believe it is a 729A sheller.
