Good Morning :Guys
What would a JOHN DEERE #7 Cycle mower with a broken
Pitman stick be worth. It has not been used for many years and I mean
Many years, but has been in a lean to tractor shed.
MANY THANKS
HAVE A GREAT DAY

If stuck and rusty...like you will need heat and soaking to raise and lower the bar...scrap value. It can be fixed, never seen one that couldn't, but it will take some time and be a PITA to whoever uses it. Otherwise? Some folks think JD paint means big bucks and sometimes it does. I sold my two #5 mowers, in the Spring before hay season, to a fella starting out. He gave me $160 for the pair. One ran fine, other needed welding, both were not complete as far as shields and some other non-operational parts.

I would think it would be worth more than a lot of other type cycle mowers

I agree with you, Jim!

BTW, know of any mounting parts for a "50" mower for sale?

You might also consider posting your question down in the John Deere forum.

Someone that owns either an L or LA might provide a more accurate estimate of its value.

Good luck with your mower.

As scarce as that model is it should be worth a LOT more than the No. 5 mowers as there are a lot out there that will do the job of a No. 5 And it is hardly a collector item BUT NOT any that will do the job of mounting on the side of the LA tractor, even if the tractor is only for show.

Thjat type of mower should be worth a lot more than you are saying as it is a scarce collector item only made for one model of JD tractor and only I think from 1941 to 1946

If talking about the side mowers that went on the tractors with mid-PTO I have a Model 10 and a Model 50 I bought to get parts for my 2 Model 350's and won't be using the mounting parts.

Because of its rarity (and only fits the very collectible L series) it would probably be worth springing for an ad in the John Deere magazine. I'd ask $250, see what develops.

Dates of manufacture are outlined in red. I'd guess price at $500

I would agree as well as Ive only heard mainly of the #5 and #8 mowers. Looks like an interesting piece.

Do you still have the tractor it was attached to ?

I ask because there are ALOT of parts required for attaching one and some needed parts may still be on that tractor.

I'm probably thinking of a different mower. I am not a fan. Cut hay with them for a lot of years. When I finally switched and sold the old JD's I had a lot less down time.

I haden't seen that in your post so I was just guessing from the years the LA tractor was made not knowing if it fit the L tractors of the earlier years. Still very scarce around here, Ohio.

I thought he was wanting to buy the mower. Having all mounts is good point but if wanting to buy then having the tractor with mounts would not be in the picture.
