Whatever happened to the guy that was learning to play the pedal steel? That was the first time I even knew that they existed. I sure did like the music of a pedal steel. Did he keep at it, and get proficent?

Where have you been all these years?
The pedal steel guitar has been around ever since Little Roy Wiggins was a pup.

Steel guitars make some beautiful music. If you watch all the country music shows on RFD on Saturday nights, you'll hear some good steel and see it in action. If you watch Sponge Bob Square Pants, you'll hear a lot of steel guitar also.

Well Harvey! I have been here probably more years, than I deserve, or ever thought that I would be. I grew up with my ear stuck in an old Philco tall box radio, on a Saturday night. Turning on the radio was only done by Dad, and mostly for the markets, or for the Oprey. Those old dry cell hotshot batterys were expensive according to my dad. I sure did like Uncle Dave Makin, Hank Williams, Ernie Ford, Eddie Arnold and a host of others, who's names escape me now. In 58 I got married, and we lived on tenant farms, with me working for my boss from day light to dark 6 days, a week and after feeding on Sundays, the wife and kids and I, would go to morning and evening services, at our church. Somewhere in the early 80's, after leaving farm work, and going to a foundry, I started to realize that The radio anoyied, me, cause I wasn'nt making out the words. It got to the point that if I had a radio available, I wouldn't bother to turn it on. I have went thru five different styles of hearing aids, and none of them is a replacement for real hearing. TAKE CARE OF WHAT YOU GOT. Any how I more than likely have heard a pedal steel in some of the bands, in times past, but I don't remember an announcer saying here comes SO&SO playing the pedal steel. The guy I was asking about put a you tube on this forum, and was too humble about his ability, but was making some good music. I belive that was one to two winters ago. I think Lou in Wisc would remember.

Did taylor swift get a pedal steel?

no good music came after the 1970's... just my opinion...

For a really GOOD pedal steel player, try "davespedalsteel" on YouTube. He is about as good or better than any I have heard. You can also do a search for David Hartley.
