Trying to make a set of con rod bearings for an old Buda. The bearings have no brass backing. Re-babbiting is not issue if we had the shells. Maybe there is something out there similar. Journal width is 2.875,step for rod width is 2.675. OD is 2.875 and ID is 2.175 Anything close to these could be made.

Try the Buda engine company in Louisiana? James really helped me out with one of mine. I've got the phone number stashed somewhere if you can't find it.

I tried Buda a while back but never had a response. Remember we are talking late twenties!

you probably have 4 choices .#1 keep looking till you find engine or bearings.#2 make new bearings from brass and have them babbited or#3 make from bronze and skip the babbit. or #4 have a babbit guy babbit your rods to size. #2 and 4 may not be cheap but they will be right.Paul

Call Roberts Bearing Service in Ripley,WV to see if he still rebabbit's connecting rods. He would need the rod journal measurements. Hal

PS: Back in the 1970's Federal Mogul was doing that and I had 2 connecting rods done out of a Standard Twin garden tractor. Was a perfect fit.
