On each side :) not mine, I was just working across the road from where this monster was working. Word in the street is that the head puts too much strain on the combine so Deere will have to design a bigger combine to handle it I guess.

What would that head weigh? 10,000 lb? More? A MacDon 40' flex draper weighs darned near that much so i'll bet it's more than 10,000. There's a heck of a lot of twist on the feeder house when a 40' head is hung out there. My 105 weighed 12000 with a 15 foot header according to the book. If Deere has a problem with it they will have it remedied in short order.

Well, an IH 863 (all steel) six row is just shy of 4K lbs. That one is 16 row, almost 3 times the width. Probably not all steel. I bet you are close.

It could very well be 30,000. It takes a heavier superstructure to carry weight that far out from center.

No because its 75% plastic . Have to hand it to gleaner they at least still have steel sheet metal bout the only thing I can hand to em they are the lightest weight but the weight had to come from some where

Ironic you should compare it to a draper
head. Also heard today he had been testing
a 50' head for Deere. They had a test
combine on tracks In the field today and a
pickup with techs from Deere following it
through the field today.

Thin sheet metal cracks real easy. I like plastic. Downfall to plastic is if you ram a snoot into a frozen down rock there is not pounding and welding. you get a new one. Jim
