Up here in northern Michigan there is a neat guy we call Rusty Roy. Roy travels all over the county to auctions. Mostly for big trucks and heavy equipment. Sometimes you think he has endless deep pockets. his yard is maybe 100 acres, sometimes you have to walk it because its so full there isnt room to drive. If you need an axle from a trailer or transmission from a truck, maybe a hole cab. He will torch it off and sell parts. Prices are really good, most stuff is old. Thats where the name Rusty comes in. When scrap prices go up he cuts everything into pieces no matter what it is. Year or two later the yard is full again. Roy's health is starting to fade so he isnt hitting the auctions like he used to. I used to be able to ask Roy to pick me up a Super duty Crew cab from somewhere down south and give him a few months and one would be in his yard. Maybe not a turn the key and drive, but one that needed head gaskets, or a tranny. He always bought stuff cheap so he could cut it up, then he sold it at above scrap price, but still a good deal for the guy looking for a project. Anyone know of a Roy in the South? Would be cool to find a yard like Roy's without the rust.
