79 Dodge air cleaner

I have already hijacked G1355's post too far so I'll start my own. Who has Dodge parts manuals for pickups from the 70's? I'm looking for a complete air cleaner for my 79 W200 with a 360 2 bbl Holley and the local salvage yard I've been doing business with would like to have a factory part number for this air cleaner so they know what they're talking about when they call other yards searching for one. The local Dodge dealer with a parts man young enough to be my grandson only goes back to 1983 in their computer so he's no help at all. There is a former Dodge dealer in town who might still have the parts books but I had a difference of opinion with them several years ago and I don't want t to darken their door again if I can help it.

The local salvage did find an air cleaner for me in Colorado but when it came it was off a much older pickup than mine. It probably was on a 79 with a 360 but it didn't come on that Particular pickup from the factory. The local salvage owner was psst that he had to eat this wrong part and I don't blame him. He told me to get a part #and then he would call the yards that show one on his computer.

I don't want just any air cleaner. Only an original one will do. Jim

Hey Fixer, how big of a hurry are you in? I have no doubt that I have your air filter housing, but might take me a while to turn one up.

No idea on part number but let me have a look
around. My dad bought a 79 brand new and I know
there are some parts around here still.

Should of kept mine, I put on a chrome one and a 6" air filter
when I changed carb and intake. Think I sold mine but I'm not
even sure, just know i don't have it anymore. Keep your eye
out for a light blue nice set of door panels and armrests, if you would for me
thanks.

Message sent, Arnold. This thing won't be leaving my shop anytime soon with all the body rot to repair under the cab.

G1355 I'll keep my eyes open. Used Dodge parts are hard to come by. Salvage yard I was at had one Dodge with this cab style, a 91 but it had a red interior. Got the seat out of that one. It's getting a new cover put on it$$$$. If I hadn't bought this pickup new and raised my family with it I sure wouldn't be putting this much into it. My son was born the year before I bought it and this is the first pickup he remembers and the first one he drove so he WILL NOT let me let it go. LOL

Check the underside of the seat before you recover
it. I found a perfect lookin one for my 91 1ton
Cummins only to find out the previous owner must
have been a 300# gorilla! After sitting in the
seat awhile it settles down and rides like sitting
on a buckboard. I'll have to see if my son will
let a air cleaner go. Have 25 plus Dodge trucks.
Not far from you...E SD.

I found out there's a difference in seats. My Dodge is the basic model, no air, no roof padding, rubber floor mat, power steering and brakes, crank windows and a cheap bench seat. The seat is a basic light frame with a minimum of springs and foam. When I took it to an upholstery shop the lady there found a couple of broken springs in the seat back right behind where my butt sits and she could not get replacement springs anymore. Went to the salvage yard and found a seat out of a fancier pickup. This salvage seat is much better constructed and is in better shape than my old one. It doesn't appear sagged but???? Thanks for the air cleaner offer. I have a line on one but until I have it in my hands I won't know for sure. There are so darned many helpful people on this site. We look out for each other and that's what keeps me coming back. Jim

If any of you are interested in it, I have a weld-in repair panel
for that style Dodge truck fender. Brand new, made in USA.
Been setting around for ever. You pay the shipping.
I also have a bunch of Dodge/Carter carbs. One ThermoQuad left.
All of the carbs would need to be rebuilt. They've been on a shelf
in a heated garage for close to 10 years.

Car-Part.com is where you'll find all the salvage yards so you can search yourself. Never heard of one asking for an original part number for anything.

I have that exact panel don't need another, might be interested
in a carb, are they 2bbl or 4bbl? Any pictures. What were they
on 318,360,383,400,440?

Emails open

All but the ThermoQuad are 2bbl off 318 etc.
The Thermoquad is obviously 4bbl. Came off a 440 IIRC.
I do have a picture of them, must be on the other computer.
I'll dig it up for you but it might be tomorrow.

There are a bunch of old Chrysler parts here engines trans and such. Also could be some axles. Not sure just what they are. Some of the engines are from a 170 to a 360 even some old big blocks. 383 or 440 maybe. Small blocks 273 318 360. I have an engine out of a snow commander with trans and transfer case. The axles are here too. I put the blade on a tractor for plowing snow. the brackets and controls are here. Will have to look for some of the linkages. Might even have the air cleaner if I had a picture to look at.

I'll shoot you an email when I find the pic or take a new one.
Should be tomorrow, maybe Tuesday.

I gave up on four barrels when they made a better option.
Now, other than my tractors, I'm all EFI.

Fixerupper, and G1355! and any dodge truck people. Google up Mopar trucks, at Shingle Springs Ca. They have access to a lot of older dodge truck parts. Stay away from their photo gallery, cause it takes too long, and gives you ideas that end up costing too much money! LOL I have bought an original Hurst 4 spd. shifter and two 75 dash clusters from them.
