Let's go to the Northwest with pictures

There is nothing more boring than sombody else's pictures so please tell me you have had enough if I am a bore. That being said my wife and I rented a Grand Banks Trawler out of Bellingham, Washington several years ago and took another couple with us and spent a week exploring the Canadian Gulf and the San Jaun Islands. Here are some pictures that I thought you might enjoy. You might even want to put this on your "Bucket List."
The boat was named the Navigator. The first stop was "Poets Cove" on South Pender Island in British Columbia.
The second stop was the Sanich inlet on Vancouver Island which is also the Brentwood Bay entrance to the Burchart Gardens. The most beautiful botanical gardens that I have ever seen.
The next two nights we were tied up in front of the Empress Hotel in the Victoria Harbor.
Fifth night we were in Roach Harbor, San Jaun Island, Washington
Sixth night we were at a place called Rosario, on Orcas Island.
Last day was back to Bellingham. Should be a piece of cake to find. Mt. Baker is in the background.
As close as I can keep this to the subject of tractors the Navigator had a pair of N-14 Cummins engines which many of you are familiar with on the farm. Tom

Yep, just moved some things around and cleared an opening up near the top of my bucket list. Wow!

Well... don't stop now!

Really enjoy these photos... you and your wife have been place we will never see. So really enjoying them. And too funny, but our pastor was born and grew up in Bellingham, WA. He may have been to some of these places.

Tom, great pics,!...the wife and I and another couple spent four days in Victoria last March. I was a little reluctant to go but after we got there I loved it. I'd go back in a heart beat!! The people were so friendly lots of things to see along with places to eat, walking around after dark didn't worry me one bit, The crime is basically nonexistent there according to the locals. It rained there one evening and that didn't even slow me down, I told the wife walking in the rain was a hell of a lot better than the -25 we left behind in N. Dakota!!!

I want to thank everyone for the kind words and complements. My wife and I have been truly Blessed to be able to travel as much as we have. I have told her that if she would only have had a string of camels when we got married we could have been real Gypsies. With over seven thousand hours of logged instrument hours as a commercial rated pilot I have seen a lot in my lifetime. I will post some pictures in a day or two some beautiful pictures that I have taken from the cockpit. Sometimes no more than the end of a runway in the fog can be a beautiful site. Thank You again, Tom

Beautiful pictures, Tom!
Saw some of those places myself a few years back.

Kinda nice to view some "warm" pictures on a cold day.

Victoria is about an hour south of me. As soon as I saw the gardens I knew it was Butchard Gardens ( built in an old rock quarry), we have seasons passes. Not everything is like that quaint old English setting...we have a fine selection of Walmart's, Costco's, Target, Home Depot...you get the idea.

While we do get lots of rain on the west side of the island, the east side is in the rain shadow through most of the summer and fall. November to February though you will get wet here.

We are getting one of the rare freezes right now, just cold enough to break a few pipes and pumps that we didn't drain...it will warm up in a few days.

I'm still catching up putting everything away as I just finished shipping the last of my cranberries on Wednesday. A bit late but we got them all out. I usually post picture of the harvest but I won't hijack Toms post with them...maybe tomorrow.

Great pictures. We rented a pickup camper and went to Vancouver Island when I was about 16 early 1960's). Camped at a campground on Saanich Inlet. I remember it was the clearest seawater I had seen. Mom had always wanted to go to high tea at the Empress, so we did- Dad and I had to wear suits and ties. I remember changing in the camper with dad and him warning me not to make any smart aleck remarks that would ruin it for Mom. We both feigned enjoyment, and it was very nice (the crumpets were highly overrated). Also went to Butchart Gardens, which looks even nicer now.

Thanks for posting.

I will never get tired of pic's on here. They are just beautiful. I'll show my wife and grandchildren later today, after I look again. Thank's

We were to a few of those places and stayed at a resort on MT. Baker for a week back in 2010. Everything about that trip was a great experience. I'd return to the NW from the mid west at any opportunity.
