Someone is interested in a old Allis Chalmers Model M crawler I have. I will never use it. It's time for some stuff to leave. For 1500.00. Better than scraping it out, in a few more years. Here is the problem. he liked the tractor, but has to talk it over with his wife. I wonder how that will turn out? Stan

You never know. Two weeks ago I had a guy interested in a tractor I had advertised on CL. Wanted me to answer tons of questions and send a video of the tractor as he was 1200 miles away. I finally found time to do the video and he said he would buy it if I delivered it. Turns out he had a place 100 miles away from me....I delivered last Sat., his neighbor gave me a cashiers check upon inspection. All the local tire kickers lost out....

When they got to ask the wife its about a 95% chance
the answer will be nope. That said my wife and I were at a show and I talked to a fellow about a tractor we couldn't get together on the price, we stayed at the show a few more hrs when we got ready to leave my wife informed me we needed to pick up something before we left.Turns out she went back and had bought the tractor from the fellow for me so you never know.

it depends on the wife, when i bought a farmall cub 3 years ago mine was with me, after i drove the cub and talked to its owner and he quoted his best price for it, i turned to my wife to make my best b/s speech about how bad we needed this one too, she was already writing the check for it, she likes tractors too

With 20 hobby tractors, buying one has never been an issue with the better half, but last summer, while on an Alaska cruise, I suggested we replace the lost diamond in her ring, and get a Mother"s ring as well. Finally did that this week, and on the way home she said, "Now you can buy another tractor".

I sold a tractor in eastern SDak to a man from Ottawa, Canada. When he showed up to retrieve it his wife was along. She said "We both had a weeks vacation coming and planned to go to the Bahamas until he found your tractor online, so here we are." She was very cheerful about it.

Keep us posted as to how it turns out Stan.

To me, it's no big deal. I talk things over with my wife before I shell out anything over a few bucks, and she gives me the same courtesy. Only thing - I talk it over with her BEFORE I go look at the item.

If he didn't put any money down to hold the item, I just take it as a polite way to say "let me think about it for a while" or "I think I'm gonna keep looking". If they do call back, most of the time it is after the item has been sold.

Maybe a good response would be: "There is another guy coming to look at it tomorrow afternoon. LOL.

My experience has been, if they have to talk to the wifey poo, then you might as well forget about it. If they have to be confronted first, even if they say yes there will be strings attached to the agreement, and husband likely to change his mind to no just so he don't have to have the deal held over his head.

She really is an undeserved treasure! I always say I did a better job of finding a tolerant person, than she did. My fuse is a lot shorter than those I used as a Demo Sgt on the
A-Team! 44 years and counting. (BTW Aaron- thanks for the advice on the Zenith carb/4500 backhoe- works like a charm now- )

You're welcome. It made all the difference on my 3500. It will sit for months and start right up and run like a champ now.
