Time for a change, had enough!

Tonight we tried 3 times to get on Yahoo to look at news etc. All three times before the page loaded, the screen turned blue and computer quit and restarted. We have Avast and super anti spyware running on this computer and working. What we are looking for is a homepage with news such as AOL or MSN or even better so we can get rid of Yahoo. I think this is where the problem lies as when we scan for viruses it always shows tracking and adware cookies from Yahoo. Any help will be appreciated.

Blue screen of death can be software related, but my experience more often than not, hardware related. Down at the bottom generally are 8 octets with 8 hexidecimal charactors. Next time it happens, write them down and then Google them exactly as you see them, separated in groups exactly as you see them, the whole long string. Also, could look at your Windows event viewer and see what shows up under system and application.

You add new hardware recently? If your computer is a desktop, reseat the cards. I'm guessing is a hardware issue.

BTW, there are many people on here that know a lot more about this than I do. I was running into the same problem and just changed operating system to chrome and that seemed to solve it.

Yahoo has a bunch of stuff running on it which can crash your browser or at the least bring your computer to a crawl. I don't have much trouble with it on my Linux machine running Firefox, but my work PC which runs IE on Windows 7 really doesn't like Yahoo. That said, the Blue Screen of Death indicates a more serious problem than just the nonsense running on Yahoo.

I regularly go to Yahoo because it is the best financial news aggregator I've found, in spite of all the crap running there.

I think your problem is your computer and need to clean it up. I have yahoo as my homepage and never have any of your problems.

I use a program called "CCleaner" about once every other week. Dumps all the garbage stored in your computer. Also has some easy to use tools to optimize performance. If you aren't having a hardware problem CCleaner will often get rid of the trackers and such that slow things down.

I just use google for my homepage... then search for whatever I want. Yahoo used to be good but has gotten to be a pain...
The reason I use google is because it's just a plain blank search engine without all the crap...

We have MSN and we get this blue screen crap a lot. Can't be a dirty puter cause my wife had to wipe our puter because of the INTERPOL scam. All of our files are gone and we still get the blue screen shutdown.

Sorry, that should be Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Both are free and work well for me.

It's a bug on your machine. I had the same issue a while back. The next time it does it write down the error and Google it. There will be some geek that has the fix posted on line. As I remember it was pretty easy to fix and only took a few minutes. You will likely need to start your machine in Safe Mode to work on it so it doesn't keep trying to reboot.

Then go to www.ninite.com
Go to the Security section and click on the following.
Avast
Malwarebyts
Spybot
Super Antispyware

Download them as a bundle and then install and run each one. You will be amazed at what all these will find and clean up for you.
