My tractor won't turn left

Ford 2000 super dexta tonight will not turn left, it did yesterday. It snowed and turned cold over night. I suspect it's the steering box under the fuel tank. I full steering wheel all the way right.

Is this a common problem with these tractors, can I diagnose from the outside before having to tear into?

Does the steering wheel turn?
I don't know much about your model, but on some other Fords
that is a fairly common problem. Usually the steering wheel
will raise when turned to the left and the wheels don't turn.
Caused by a worn out thrust bearing.
If it just won't turn at all, it may be frozen water.

Upper thrust bearing in steering box has failed allowing balls to fall into the gears.

Sometimes you can free it up for awhile but another ball will jam it.

You must remove the hood, etc., and steering column to replace.

Paarts are less than $10.00.

Replace the seals when you have it down so that you can keep oil in it. Lack of oil to the upper bearing caused it to fail.

If it happened overnight and the temps got below freezing, I'm gonna guess there's water in the steering box. Same thing happens from time to time with Dad's Massey 165. Solution is to drain it after getting it to thaw out, and refill with fresh gear lube.

Just remember 3 rights makes a left.
