Value of a fully restored 1929 John Deere Poppin John tracto

I need to know the approximate value of a fully restored 1929 Poppin John tractor. Runs perfectly. My dad restored it and he has passed away. His last request was for us to donate it to a museum since it was the first tractor used in that area. Anyone know where I could find the value of it for tax purposes?

What model D or GP?

The value will depend on what work was done,
professional paint, if it was a complete down to
the last bolt restoration or a just fix what
doesn't work restoration.

Are you calling a JOHN DEERE tractor a poppin
john? Your father surely would not like the slang
related to his John Deere tractor

No disrespect intended, but there are many levels to restoration, so it is an extremely vague term. My interpretation of a complete restoration involves removing every part, replacing ones that do not meet factor tolerance, and a complete paint job.

With that said, I have never restored a tractor, but have repainted and probably refurbished several.

Post more information, many here to help.

Just let the museum you donate it to, value it. You need a receipt from them anyhow, for tax purposes, and they will usually be pretty generous on value, in appreciation of the donation.

The only thing I can think of as to why people ask a vague, not enough information question, is they crave attention or trying to see if they can get a rise out of others, or both.

It is because they are unfamiliar with a topic that they need some knowledge of, so they go to a source that they have become aware of. Not everyone is knowledgeable on every subject.

I agree that not everyone is knowledgeable on every subject. There are a lot of things I don't know about, but if I was really interested in finding out something on a subject I would furnish as much info as possible.

Thank you so much for your kind response at this difficult time. My dad left four daughters who know nothing about tractors to handle this. I really appreciate your advice.
