355.5 Miles Later

I am home, rolled in yesterday at about 4:15, had left at 6:45.

32 Gallons of fuel
355.5 Miles
8 TacoBell Burritos

Only had two major problems, first of which was a near T-Bone collision on the highway, due to a back seat driver in the front seat (mom)......

Second was that my BRAND NEW trailer brake controller went on the fritz coming down Sherman pass, and darn near put me over the edge.... Something odd has happened, because the brakes work just fine if I manually slide the lever across the controller, but nothing happens when I touch the pedal....

No pictures yet, but I will get some this afternoon, after seeing it, I probably should have left it there, but, it is too late now!! It acts like it is stuck, the sheet metal is all messed up, brakes are toast, won't go into gear, etc. HEY, but what do you expect for free? :)

Any 'free' tractor is a good tractor...I got a free MD last year, but it got delivered. It is stuck,too.....Congrats!!!Glad you're home safe.

That is always my thought, but I haven't got mom on the same page yet!! :)

IF worst comes to worst, I can pop the engine out and stuff it into something that it don't belong in... :p

Also the other thing about this tractor that intrigued me, is that all of the guys on here said that it would not have hydraulics, but this one does?? It has what appears to be a one sided rock shaft on top of the diff case, right below the seat? I'll get a good picture of that! Bryce

If you had 8 Taco Bell burritos you're lucky you didn't have a third major problem. I'm still getting over one I ate last week.

Hi Bryce
Glad you made it home safe, was wondering how you got on.
Those controls can be a pain to mount at the right angles on some trucks, to get them to work correctly. It could be thats why it don't work, or maybe there is a problem with the wire that activates the unit from the brake pedal switch. I know mine took a while to install and set up and adjust with the turn dials and stuff on it. For once I was actually reading the instructions to! L.O.L. It was a long ways from a plug and play unit, before I got it set how I wanted it. Then I changed over from 1/2 gas to a 3/4 ton diesel and don't use that truck to tow anymore!
Regards Robert

That is probably the mechanical lift for cultivators. It can be rigged up to pick up a 3 point lift. Glad you got home in one piece. Post photos please.

Just got back from Kettle Falls myself...196 miles, left one tractor, picked up another on the way home. So much for thinning the herd...

Glad you have your new toy home. 32 gallons of fuel for a free tractor, Id say you did well.

Get on that brake controller, when you least expect it is when you will need it the most. I think most everyone on here can tell you a story of not having enough brakes at one time or another. The pucker is not fun. :)
