Have 1957 CA need to find out how the Governor Rod linkage spring hooks up?

If it's like my B, it goes from the rod to the carb up to a manifold stud. The spring prevents surging.

Someone has added that spring as there was not a spring going to a stud anywhere.

Do you mean the one inside of the housing or the two on the throttle rod that hooks to the input shaft on the gov.

Sometimes referred to as an "anti-surge" spring.
On the CA it hooks to the manifold stud.
Interestingly, on the early WDs, it hooks to the block draincock.
