....are finally done. Started a few weeks back using my Gleaner F2 until the ground clutch went out. Instead of taking the time to fix it I got the old A2 out of mothballs to finish the beans. Nice to have a backup.

Years ago I was between combines and was having my stuff custom done. I bought the A2 for $700 and it paid for itself the first year. Minor repairs but like a Timex it keeps on ticking.

Now I have to fix the F2 so I can shell corn. No corn head for the A2.

I wonder what that K is that's coming up on that sale December 6th? Looks like it might be just what I'm looking for. A fair distance to haul it,but if the price is right.

The A2 became the K then the K2. It's a 3 row machine in corn. F2 is a 4 row.

Are talking about the Sykora sale down my way? It's only 12-13 miles from me. The 10ft head seems a bit small and not floating? My A2 has 12ft and handles it just fine. It would make great corn sheller.

As far as getting it home. Check the tires and drive belt and drive it

Ya,that's the one I'm talking about. If I go,I'll take the trailer. I can get both heads on that. Then I'd just have to get the combine home. My brother is in the excavating business and has trailers that would haul it OK. Driving it on a nice day wouldn't be out of the question. Milton Tissue used to drive his old Field Queen self propelled chopper over your way every year just to hire out opening up fields with it.

My cousin and I bought our first combine 140 miles from home...Model K, 2row ch and 13 foot bean/pickup head. Left seller"s farm about noon, one stop for gas, home by 10. Some new roads for me so wrote E(ast) and N(orth) on the foggy windshield at each turn after dark. Plan was to leave it 40 miles from home at a friend"s farm, but I kept going, cousin looking for me, and I was on back roads!

Also, 90 miles from home, truck fuel pump went out, pulled into farmer"s yard, explained my cousin was up ahead somewhere, I was to catch up so he could go home and milk cows. Farmer gave me his truck...I caught up and we switched driving. Total stranger- he said he used to milk cows, he understood!
