piston rings different? Ford 660

I have my pistons out of my ford 660 tractor (gas).

The middle piston rings in the kit I ordered are different than the ones that were on there. The NEW middle ring is a little thicker, while the older one was a 2 piece, AND there was a "wiggly" ring underneath the on the old one.

Which is correct, together they seem the same but want to see if anyone else has seen this

Thanks

Favored piston ring designs have changed over the years, and vary by manufacturer.

If you have the correct set for the application, and they are a respected brand name, you will be FINE.

More important than what you are worried about is ring groove wear and bore size/taper. Have you checked yours?
Groove wear

Sounds like your talking about the oil ring, that's common, different brands make different kinds, but most oil rings go in the third or forth groove.

Groove wear

The ring grooves in my 960 were worn enough when I tore it down that the rings would move up and down a sixteenth of an inch.
