Loader Pump Hot

Well I looked at it again this weekend and I figured out why it was getting to hot. I had the pressure line from the pump hooked to the in port on the valve for the lift cylinders! I swapped the lines and now it dosen't get hot, however it still don't work. I think it's the control valves. When I got it somebody had a bolt stuck in the relief valve and the check vale didn't have a spring or metal ball. I guessed and tried to replace the missing parts but I think I just need to replace it. Where can I get a good price on one? It needs to be open center I believe. 2 spools one single acting and one double 1/2" in lines and 3/4" returns and it has a big hose on the bottom returning to the tank. My wife is about ready to kill me over this thing and the money I've spent so far i gave $250.00 for it and $100.00 in gas to go get it. Add in a new pump, bracket, one hyd line and complete drive line and now I'm in for about $750.00. I'm sure you know how moma gets about money spent on our toys!! Thanks for your help my friends.

Try the "Surplus Center" . They sell all kinds of hydraulic parts and you can find a valve on their web site. Years ago I got one for my VAC Case

You are not going to find what you consider a "good" price on the valves. They are spendy no matter who you get them from. Even used ones don't go cheap.

It's going to be a matter of sucking it up and spending the money, or taking a chance on a used one.

NOT quite sure what the "in port on the valve for the lift cylinders" is???

If you can you find a tractor buddy/guru/old guy that knows this stuff and is bored, you can probably get it solved without a new valve.

You've mucked with the relief valve and the "check ball"???? and there's probably a simple issue in that area.

(IME, finding one "check ball" in a two spool valve doesn't make sense, it must be part of the relief.)

I've been looking and everything is 2 spool double acting but one on them needs to be single acting. Can you just plug the return and make it work? I've tried adjusting the relief and the check valve and I can make the tractor die but can't get the lift or bucket to do anything.

Combine salvage yards- lots of single/double combos available. Too much good stuff being thrown away.

you keep messing with it like this and you will wreck your new pump yet.
you need a pressure gauge so you can set the relief and I will take a guess and set it at 2000#s. If you can kill the tractor you are making pressure and blocking it somehow but turn that relief to tight and rev the tractor a little and the pump will split.
something isnt plumbed right yet or cylinders would be moving.
a double acting control will work just fine but tee the port to your return so the oil has somewhere to go.if you just plug the port when you push the lever you will ride the relief valve and wear it out also hard on the pump.

I guess what I am trying to say above is before you spend the money on a new valve you better make sure the old one is the problem. If you can make the relief kill the motor it will lift the loader if its plumbed correctly. follow the oil through the circuit and disconnect hoses if you have to to make sure oil is coming out where you think it should. if its not coming out the hose for the lift cylinders when you pull the lever to lift the loader then figure out why. and it will come out even if you only have 5#s of pressure.if you have 2000#s of pressure at the end of that hose then maybe your cylinders are full of rust.
