My 8N has a new distributor and coil but won't fire. Tried switching out the condenser and the coil, has juice at the wire going into the distributor but can't get any spark to show from plug to engine block? Cranks good..but still not firing.

i seen a few dist loose there ground due to
corrosion
try a ground wire off the body of the dist to a
good body ground to check if this is your problem
if it works then you need to pull the dist
andclean the shaft that conyacts the engine block
and the area where the hold down block attaches to
make acomplete circit ora redneck repair would be
to make the jumper wire a permenent repair

Take a test light and hook it to the
battery post that goes to the tractor frame
then put the test light on the terminal going
into the distributor and crank the engine over.
The test light should blink off and on as the
points open and close. If it stays on the
points are not closing if the light doesn't
come on it means the points are not opening.
We put a new distributor on our
neighbor's 8n and we had the same problem
you're having it would not fire. We ended up
taking the new dist back and ended up paying a
20% restocking fee of $40. Ended up adjusting
the points in the old one by bending them to
make them contact each other and got it running
again.

An 8N can be one of 2 distributors and the fix on them are not the same. So is it front out side mount 6 volts or 12 volts. On many new points they have a coating on them to protect them so you have to remove that coating. Also if the point gap is wrong it will cause odd problems. Front mount gap is 0.015 and side mount is 0.025

My neighbor had one that wouldn't start after new points & condenser. When he installed the condenser wire at the points it was shorting out against the side of the distributor.

Although not written for your tractor, my Ignition Troubleshooting Procedure may still help, especially the part about using a test lamp on the coils output that goes to the distributors input terminal (wires to points). That shows if the points are opening and closing and if they are getting a good ground. Check it out.
