My one Uncle used mules up until 1978 and 2 small tractors then he retired. He gave me some of his horse drawn equipment that I have painted and hung in my shed. Thought all of you may enjoy these pictures. The riding cultivator my brother and I used for a couple of years to cultivate popcorn. It has 9 different levers for adjustments including the 2 foot pedals to steer it. The red walking cultivator has an old tree for the tongue. The green walking cultivator is commplete but one of the axles are worn half way thru from use. Makes you wonder how many miles it actually traveled. These implements were bought in St. Louis Mo. He told me the name of the store and I wish I could remember it. My dad's one cousin gave me the John Deere Potato Plow. It still has the Jumping Deer stenciled on both handles. That's my little IH 574 also.

They look to be in good repair and the perfect size for the 574. Take them down, fit a harness on the 574 and go to work.

Great pictures!! We have some old stuff hanging to in our buildings. Good way to keep them and still keep floor space!!

Picture 2 of the bull tongue/potato plow brings back a few memories of use. The cultivator is also familiar but something I didn't use growing up- mother demonstrated it in garden and couple threshing show events. Horse drawn mower and buck rake- got a couple tries with them behind team and later convert to tractor pull. If oil wars break out, can pull down from roof and get a couple pulling critters- halter broke dairy cows can be used if needed. since you say they were mule drawn before-(WARNING, Teasing Alert!)- maybe you can get 4 to 6 nnalert in harness to pull in one direction and draw the tools--repeat, you did note the tools were used with Jack*ss- (the Dem party logo/mascot). Nice! I've got so many walking plows in the old milkhouse that I've had to start piling them on top of each other. I need a way to display them.

very nice! My fathers uncle, had a cultivator like yours,he pulled it with his 8n,I sat in a seat, steered it with my feet, raised the handle to lift it at the end of each row, then he eventualy turned the rig and we did a pretty good job with it,I was pretty young,it took all I could do to raise the handle,I Remember it well!

Nice, glad to see you are taking good care of them. I have several old one horse planters and drills, etc. I have restored them as they were in bad shape.

Neat equipment!

In photo 2: what is the purpose of the "splines" (?) that stick out of the plow? Never seen on like it.

Hi Nice to see somebody saving and painting the old implements, Never seen things that size stored like that either.
On the plus side you'll always know where it is. Because the average opportunist scrap thief that would take them from a front yard, ain't smart enough to get them down ! L.O.L.
Regards Robert

When digging potatoes they rolled against the "splines" or fingers. This knocked the dirt off of them and laid the potatoes on top of the ground. I have a homemade one that is similar ands it works good.
