Michigan guys...

How is the color in your area? Just got back from an equipment auction over on the west-central side of the state and meandering back thru the back roads was really beautiful today. Hickories are pure gold and when they mix with the sugar maples it is really something to see. Wondering is it all done with up north? Heading down to Louisville in a week, hoping it will be a nice drive.

Still have nice color, the wind and rain the last couple of days sure knocked alot of the leaves down. Couple pictures of the townships I take care of. Ross

Ya,there's a fair amount of green but where there normally is good color,it's as good as it'll get. I couldn't believe how fast the leaves came down yesterday when that inch of rain and the wind came through in the middle of the afternoon.

Central Michigan - Montcalm county: We had some nice color last weekend. I had several trees marked for individual photographs. Unfortunately, missed my opportunity with the rainy week. We have not reached maximum color, and afraid that with this weather, it may be all downhill from here. Lost a lot of color already due to rain causing leaf drop.

SE corner of Kalamazoo County, the colors are outstanding ! At least they were the other day in the late sunshine. I have a silver maple by my house that is gorgeous, half of the leaves have red tips as if they were dipped in paint.

Colors are very good here in Barry county. I was up to my cottage north of White Cloud last Sunday and the colors were not peaked out yet.

As I was looking at the trees on my place today, Genesee County, I was thinking they have about peaked. I been busy here and haven't left home so I don't know about the surrounding area.

South central Michigan, today was about the peak. Travelled from Branch County Michigan to Huron County Ohio this afternoon to pick up a mower, much less color here, no reds, just brown and yellow. Rain has knocked down some of the color.

Still some pretty good color here, but the rain knocked some of the leaves off. We took the motorcycle around Big Rapids and Reed City last Saturday, and was good color. Going to take a color tour by air this weekend.

I traveled through Branch, Calhoun, and Barry counties today and when the sun peeked through the clouds the colors were about perfect, unless you prefer all green.

Still a fair amount of green in Ionia county, but the colors
are really showing well. Close to peak I would think.

Today's farm auction was in Jackson county and on the way home I noticed a stretch of big hickories arching over the road with the sun above...like a tunnel of pure gold. Then a mix of sugar maple and it was like driving thru cold flame. I think the sugar maples are my personal favorite. Everything from pure yellow to pink to yellow tinged with red. A beautiful color year, that's for sure!

This is the most colorful year I've ever seen in mid michigan. Had to be the large amount of rain we've had all summer long. The trees actually got to have a normal season and were not all dried up from august droughts this year. Got to mature and go through the whole cycle. St Johns is really beautiful right now.

Ross:

THANKS for the pictures. I love seeing pictures of trees. Where I live here in Southern Nevada, all I have is small Pines, Cottonwoods, and Mesquite trees, and LOTS of Sagebrush. LOVE seeing all the Fall colors on the trees.

West Michigan along the lakeshore is beautiful color! This would be the week to get out and see it.

Close to peaking in western Genesee/eastern Shiawassee county. Only a little green left. Some trees are dropping a fair amount of leaves already.

Nice here in Hillsdale County on the southern border. The Walnuts are done but the Maples are in "Full Bloom and Shedding". Beautiful colors for sure, but the thought of another winter coming on like last kinda dims the beauty for me.....Sure hope the forecasters are wrong.

Well you would love this year! I just got in, had to be on the road for work today. Must be one of the best color years I have seen. Need J Wondergem to put up some pics of his aerial tour.
