Parts for English made Ford

I am having problems finding parts for my ford tractor. It says 2000 on the hood. It looks like a Dexta, but it is a 4 cylinder gas engine. I need a carb, and possibly a starter for it. Winter is coming and it is time for me to get busy and get it fixed. I can get engine parts through massey furgeson. It shares the same engine as a TEA20 massey. I have no idea where to start for parts for the rest of the tractor. I think it was manufactured in 1961. Does anyone have any experience with these tractors, and know where I can find parts?

Can send pics.

Sounds like an 'early' 2000.But I thought they used
172 gas motor. For parts,I would try your Ford
tractor dealer.Look it up on TractorData.com.Type in
"Ford 2000 tractor" on Google images.See what comes
up.Try right here on YT.They have olts of parts. You
should buy a parts book

Thanks I will definitely try that. Would love to find a parts book.

I have a super dexta diesel. You can find the parts breakdown
on the new holland website. Parts are available from new
holland, on this website and many others. There hasnt been
anything for mine that I have needed and not been able to find.

chowers, Like Jeff said, go to New Holland on line parts site.

Here is good one, www.messicks.com
When site comes up click on gray bar-PARTS DIAGRAMS
Click on-NEW HOLLAND AG (YELLOW & BLUE)
Go to model search-Choose NH Ag
Enter 2000-Hit Search
About 10 items down you will see 2000 Series 4cyl
Click on Fuel System to find Carb.

Hopefully this should be correct parts list for all parts on your tractor and you won't have to hunt a parts book.

You can go on any NH Dealer or NH direct to get to on line parts look up. Messicks is good because if older part numbers change they give some of sub numbers. They also give price with each number . If you go to Messicks site you will see you can access Case/IH, New Holland, Kubota, and several other short lines.

Hope this helps, Bill

chowers, Delta Red brought up good point about 4 cyl gas in early model.

I went back to on line catalog again and if reading right ,this parts list is for 2000 4cyl built from 1/62-12/64. Also looks like gas engine is 134 cu in and 172 is LPG ?

look at picture of carb. It is an "egg shaped" Marvel Schebler Carb I believe. Look like yours ?.

Just want to make sure this is correct list for your Tractor !, Bill

chowers, Delta Red also mentioned Tractordata.com

There you can see picture, SNumbers, years built and many specs that you can make sure of your tractor.

think your tractor is made by fordson
model power major made 1958-1961
http://www.tractordata.com/farm-
tractors/001/8/2/1828-fordson-power-major.html
has the 3.3 4 cyl gas motor

the super dexta was sold in the U.S. as a ford
2000
but only had a 3 cyl gas 1962 - 1964
www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/000/7/2/724-
fordson-super-dexta.html

hope this helps
ytalso sells carbs for them under ford parts
my friend has the super major ford 5000d 1963
model
also made by fordson parts are harder to find
but they are out there

If it has the same engine as a Massey, it will be a Super Dexta.
They were sold in the U.S. as 2000's for a while. Most of them
were 3-cylinder diesels, but some were built with 4-cylinder gas
engines. If it's a U.S. built 2000, it could have a 134 cubic inch
gas or LP or 144 cubic inch diesel engine. If you aren't sure
which you have. ... does it have one or two shift levers? Dextas
and Super Dextas have 6-speeds.... 3 gears plus reverse one the
main lever and hi/lo on therange lever. U.S. 2000's could have a
4-speed, 5-speed, or Select-O-Speed, which all have a single
shift lever.

I am fairly certain your tractor is a UK built Dexta tractor fitted with a Standard motor company 4cyl petrol engine Standard also used this petrol engine in the UK built MF 35 and 135 tractors. If you put this on the Fordson board Majorman from the UK may answer and he is the expert on these UK built tractors. The Power Major is a 4cyl 52hp tractor. MJ

(quoted from post at 05:28:36 10/14/14) Post that on the Ford site will get some info also

Yes it is a UK made tractor. Looks like a dexta all except for the engine. It is a Standard 4 cylinder engine. 85 mm displacement I think. same as the TEA 20 Furgeson. I bought a head gasket a few years ago for the Furgeson and it fit. I guess the starter on the Masey is mounted on the opposite side, I don't know about interchange on other parts besides internal engine components. Mine has a zenith carb. I noticed many of the carbs I found were marvel and I am not sure if they will interchange. Got some water in my gas and the tip of the main adjustment needle corroded off and I can't find a replacement.

It has two shift levers as you mentioned. It is definitely not a us manufactured model. Pretty sure from the research that I did earlier that i is a 1961. It is a completely different than the '62 and later models that were mentioned in earlier posts. I am learning a lot here these posts have been very helpful.
