Pics of your Tractors in the Rough...

I spend a fair amount of time on Flicker just looking through pictures of old rusty tractors and other stuff.

I thought it would be neat idea for a thread to see what everyone started with when they got their projects.

You can post before and after pics and some brief info if you want. I was just looking to see the rough pics though.

Here are two of mine

My 43 Farmall H the day I saved it from the scrap yard

A few days later after I got the loader off and got it running. Tires would hold air for about 30 min.

My 48 JD A the day I got it.

I got this F-20 from the original owner for $20.00. Sold it to a IH collector for $450.00 He restored it and sent me photos.

(quoted from post at 11:39:40 03/08/11) 2nd photo of JD, bald tires and car fronts are gone, is it just
another donor or same tractor?

Yea, its the same tractor,

The old wheel where the bald tire is was rotted out and was a pressed steel wheel. The other side had a cast center. I wanted to run the cast centers so I got another one from the junk yard that had a good rim but bald tire. It held air for a little while but it gave up a while back.

I think the old fronts were wagon wheels. Previous owner said the fronts when he got it were rotted out so he stuck wagon wheels on to move it around. I got the fronts at the junkyard as well.

I've since got new rubber to put the whole way around last weekend. Just waiting to paint it first.

Wanted a tractor for a wedding gift, guy at the bar hooked me up, got a 53' A/C ca for free.

Love that picture of the painted F-20. When I was 13 years old dad come home with one just like that. Think it was a 1936. Spent a lot of hours on it pulling a disk and a 3-14 Case plow. To me it was a big tractor. Never had to do anything to it ,but fuel it and drive it.

1936 John Deere AW that had been converted to a tricycle and ended up in a fence row. Even the oil filter housing had rusted thru in the motor compartment. When I removed the front pedestal I found the heads of the bolts that held the wide front on.

Before... Actually this tractor came from an auction with most of it in bushel baskets... This is after reinstalling the axle housing and axle. Yes I know there is no jack stand... Yes I know it is dangerous. I am sure someone will state so anyway...

Another... 1950 M... She looked a lot worse when I bought her than in the initial refinishing photos...

I bought it because my dad had a F-20. when he was a kid. When he sat on it the first time he said I thought it was bigger.lol

I think you have a great idea about the rough tractors. I love red but I do like any tractor that is saved and restored. Maybe this topic should be a new forum.

here is my oliver 770 gas. always used for spreading crap in winter cause it was very heavy and never got stuck but something broke in the trans and never fixed so its been sitting for about 7yrs alone.

Here is our 1964 Case 930 Western with hand clutch. It was left with water in the cooling system and an uncapped exaust. The sleeves and pistons were replaced shortly before it was neglected and they are salvagable. We have found another block now, but budget for toys is hard to justify. Hopefully this summer we'll get it running and back in it's overauls.

Good post; enjoyed looking at all the good work y'all did on your tractors.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Pics of the John Deere 435 and 430 Standard before and after; last picture is the JD 430W before, currently in the shop and hope to have the after done this summer.

After pulling 3 14s for a day. It's not painted yet, but we're getting there.

Here's a few for you. The R is the only one "restored" as of now. Note the previous owner's "custom" fuel tank on the D19.

These are great pictures, keep'em coming. :D

that custom fuel tank on the D19 would be easier to take to the fuel station when empty.

At least I'm not the only one to get really rough stuff and get it going again.

Here's a 36 case C I picked up. I don't think I'm gona keep it but who knows. I have just about everything for it except the hood and muffler and some hardware.
The head had been off for 6 years and the cylinders had a peice of bubble wrap over them and the tractor itself "had" been covered with a tarp. When I got it the tarp had deteriorated. so the cylinders were filled with water. surprisingly we got it loose. Its sitting together now but I don't have a pic of it.

It was worse than it looked. The fella handed me the standpipe out of the hydraulics after I bought it... There was 8 gallons of water int he tranny and the engine was toast!

1938 F-14. The "before" picture is how it looked I spotted it behind a house where I was doing some computer work for a feller. Required some chainsaw work to get it on my trailer.

If I had known what I'd wind up spending on it, I'dve never gone near it!

The "after" pic is several years old, I've added fenders, a road gear and electric start since then.

I enjoyed looking at all the pics. One thing that I noticed, is that some of you really are pushing the weight limits with those twin axle trailers.

Thought I'd bring this back to the top to see what new rough starts people had.

Here a Cultivision A I was helping a friend get going. The pneumatic lift is complete. (The Cable part had been removed, I've since put it back on) The Cylinder works but not after I put the cable on. It runs GREAT!
