Self Parking Audi

Cars are already be driven without human drivers and they are doing well in there test drives.

It is amazing what technology can do!

Was reading about Tesla's new $120,000 model, things it will do... It had the self park feature (BTW, can only be legally used on private property LOL), had auto lane change, just turn on the signal, self correcting lane drift, collision avoidance, could read speed limit signs and adjust accordingly... Most interesting was "image recognition", guess it can tell the difference between a child and a blowing shopping bad!

Just a few more systems that have to be maintained :). I can do without more things to break, malfunction or replace. Maybe when they make new cars affordable. Unlikely with all the new gadgets.

Just what I need! It is very annoying that now that I am an old guy that I can't seem to get into the center of the parking space like I used to.

Insurance companies are starting to worry about all this autonomous stuff and driver liability if the car system fails. Just more crap for people to get dependent on.

Jay Leno would have had a field day with this on the Tonight Show. He would feature ridiculous labor saving devices or practices, then say something like "How lazy are we getting in this country, people? Look at that woman- she obviously spends hours in the gym, but can't park her car and walk 100 feet to the mall? How lazy are we getting?"

First time I ever heard of texting on a cell phone, Jay demonstrated it. Then he held the phone out and said "ITS A PHONE! YOU CAN TALK ON IT!"

I am going to buy a couple low milage vehicles soon. Maybe a few years old.
My income and IRA is not keeping not with inflation. I do make a few dollars in my shop. But, I am going to make my retirement as simple as I can. Can do most of the work on everything I have now and am going to try to keep it that way.
These low interest rates we have had for the last seven or eight years have not helped some of us older people.

man - It's certainly impressive, but I guess the thought is that if you can afford the technology, you can afford all the parking/towing charges when it parks in reserved spots, or on corers where there's no parking allowed, etc.

And most parking garages around here, *I* as a human can barely figure out which way to turn to go up or out, they're all very, very different, and often complicated.

Can you imagine a concert getting out and having this thing poking along up the wrong lane blocking everybody!

You think people get bad at other people - just wait till they realize a robot's driving!!!

I'm going to look for an F150 with a 300 and 5 speed in the spring. Other than some of the chassis and cab shell, you can pretty well build one out of the LMCtruck catalog.

As a pretty adept parallel parker, I kinda resent this type of technology. I often find places to park because others don't know how to or don't want the hassle of parallel parking. Hmmmmph.
