John Deere No. 40 Plow

Well, I made some good progress on my 40 Plow today... Got a handle off of a McCormick Grain Binder, and made it work!! Hows it look? Bryce

Ummm...just HOW will attach that plow to your tractor.?

To Pre-Clean the surfaces that contact the Soil:

Use a 4 1/2" Angle-Grinder, with a Thin Cut-Off Disc (wear a Mask and Safety Glasses) by holding the Disc at about a 30 Degree angle to the steel.
It will ONLY remove the Rust and NOT scratch the steel..use it like it were a Putty Knife..!

In one of the pictures I have of the original plow ad, there is just a straight clevis through the two holes on the front, and then a twisted clevis in that hooked to the tractor. This plow does not have any kind of an emergency breakaway, soooo I guess it will just require me to use my cat like reflexes!!

Planning on pulling it with my 1935 John Deere B.

Yep, I will get everything all shiny after I paint it. Probably won't do too much to it until spring... But I really do need to find a way to fix or replace the broken moleboard.. Other than that and coulters, it is pretty much set.. I am going to dink around with it a little more tomorrow... Bryce

Bryce, I think you will have trouble pulling it with the B as if you can and I don't think you can the wheel track will be to narrow for the height of that tractor to safley put a wheel in the furrow for a roll over. Anything under 60" on a row crop tractor like the B is unsafe and that plow is only capable of working with a 52" wheel track type of tractor. Check the plow wheel setting for your Ford. For that plow it might be even narrower than the 52" your Ford is made to plow on. Not sure of track in the Fordson but it will not be any wider than your Ford.
