Plow disk- Anyone ever use one much anymore?

Dad used to have a JD plow disk we used once in a while. Was 11'9" wide. Went down about 5-7" It worked ok but wasn't as good as plowing. Usually used it in oats stubble. Im sure that kind of thing is long gone as a tillage tool. I do miss some of the older implements and running them. Now days if it doesn't go a foot deep and needing over 200hp its too small lol.

Our first tractor, in the mid to late fifties, was a used Case VA. It came with a two disc plow, with a weight on the thing that weighted about 150 lbs. to help keep it in the ground. It didn't turn ground worth a hoot! Now in very loose or sandy loam, it may have done very well, but In North Carolina many farms have two or three types soil, ranging from gray sandy soil to heavy red clay type soil and a disc plow just can't cut it on that. So we went shopping for a good used two 12" bottom unit.
