It's also "Do as I say and not as I do" around here. Had one pass me other day on highway doing at least 75 talking on cell and no seat belt.

Does anyone know if any state allows an emergency vehicle to exceed the speed limit when running lights and siren? I would guess that most don't.

In MN. Had a highway patrol pass me at I would guess 120 or better at 3:00 AM going to his break at Denny's. That scared the crap out of me, I was not paying attention to what was out there because there is not much out at 3:00 AM. He blasted past me like a rocket.

That brings to mind something that I think has already been discussed here. Why aren't officers required to use a hands free device while they drive a vehicle that I would think is considered commercial? One of my son's OTR trucker friends was pulled over by the DOT. When the officer pulled him over the officer had a phone to his ear. Son's friend kind of pointedly told the officer he thought the officer should be using a hands free device because he is driving a commercial vehicle and is enforcing commercial laws. The officer responded by slapping another fine on him for something he was going to ignore.

In Michigan emergency vehicles may NOT exceed the speed limit unless they are red lights and siren. 100% of them ignore it, whose going to catch them. Three years ago I found a Clinton County transport van doing over 85mpg in a 55, no lights.

Back in the 70s during school lunch time everyday for a month between 11:56 and 11:58 a state trooper went down the interstate with lights flashing doing at least 80. LOL
