Pioneer breakaway connections question ????

Are all Pioneer hydraulic connectors "breakaway" types or maybe it's possible that some of the older Pioneer connectors are similar but not of the breakaway design? I have Pioneer couplings but I suspect the moveable sleeve has to be hand released (pulled towards me) to uncouple the two sides of the connection.

The "Pioneer" coupler is not breakaway by it self.It must be put into a special 'holder' and then be conected to the tractor with a short(12") hose to give it the flexibility to 'pop' if needed.

I'm not aware of any hyd. coupler that will break away unless it's mounted, and they all should break away if mounted right.

Can you post a picture? There were older ones that when in a holder you had to manually move them to couple. There are later ones that all you have to do is push the connector (male end) in and it will connect. This is when they are in a holder.

I suspect I have the older type, not sure how to post photos unfortunately. Actually, I have two pairs of pioneer couplings on the same tractor, the pairs are a bit different looking. No holder mounted (yet), these would work if I had about 3 X's as much hand & arm strength, and a third arm would also come in handy. On both pairs though, the moveable sleeve has to be pulled towards me to hook these up and disconnect them. Hooking up is easier than disconnecting. I'm going to do some fiddling and some experimenting with what I have here.

If the moveable sleeve takes 3 men and a boy to push/pull, then you probably have the breakaway couplers without the mounting bracket.

Normal non-breakaway pioneer couplers are very easy to operate and require you to push the sleeve away from yourself.

These are the breakaway couplers:

These are normal couplers:

Mine were hard to move untill I soaked them in cleaner and got the dirt out .I was down to one arm and used a vise grip to hold them

The military used quick disconnects on fuel and hydraulic hoses some were similar to this one that required the ring to be slid back. They were in the military stock system. Hal

Yes all pioneer couplers are break away if mounted in the proper holder to hold the outside collar on the female end. ISO couplers are the same. All break away if mounted in the proper holder

The only couplers not break away are the ones that twist lock or thread together. Such as the old couplers that came on a M farmall.

If you are refering to the couplers on your new -to you 1410 Case DB tractor, It was equiped with ISO/ pioneer type couplings attached to a flat plate with U bolts with a nut on each side of the bracket so it didn't distort the outer ring of the coupling If you are talking about the power beyond circuit to feed your loader valve as I detailed on the Case forum, the female coupling should have a bracket mounted to the RH fender. Be sure to reconnect the power beyond, male and female couplings when the loader is off the tractor.

Well, two of these female end sockets are the same, the other two are similar to each other but slightly different, so something has been changed. Each hydraulic hose from the hydraulic control unit is quite short, maybe 15" - 18" long or so, all a bit different in length so it is difficult to mount them side by side in a bracket designed to hold a pair. For sure, these hoses did not reach to any kind of clamp on the fender, the hoses would not reach. I've got a good system that seems to work for releasing and hooking everything back up. Thanks for the help ....

The Case/Ih JX made in turkey tractors have the non breakaway
style rigidly mounted. I found out 1/2" 4 wire hose is stronger than
the mounting plate and 4 steel hydraulic tubes on the neighbours
brand new tractor. Grr.

I meant to ask you, what is the POWER BEYOND feature you mention? Is that where there are two extra hydraulic line ports coming out of the contol unit? Maybe two lines that are currently blanked off but face forward?
