How was the cherry crop this year?

I know last year there was not a good crop and the prices went up. Was there a good enough crop this year to lower the price?

I drink cherry juice for gout; just finished the last bottle in the pantry.

Tart Montmorency cherry juice is a great anti inflammatory with quite a bit of research proving that. I had plantar fasciitis in my foot and drinking cherry juice ended it and it has never returned.

I'm not a commercial grower, so the product of my orchard wouln't have any effect on anything one way or the other. Having said that, I have some cheery trees, peach trees, apple trees, plum trees, and a couple of apricot trees.

We had a hard freeze during blossom stage last spring that lasted for three days. I did not get one single piece of fruit from the entire orchard. This year was a total failure. So, Southern Middle Tennessee didn't contribute much to the fruit market this year.

In northern Michigan we have a lot of cherries. I have attended the National Cherry Festival every year for about 20 years now. The family loves it and I have to say it is not a bad little festival. Rumors I hear are that the winter did not affect the crop this year other than to delay it. As for prices? Gawdawful expensive yet again. I cannot believe what I have to pay for a quart of cherries anymore. I think they were asking $6 for a cupful at the festival. At that price I can live without em. I have my own tree at home. Golden cherries that are supposed to fool the birds and don't. Good though!
