My brother picked up a Kasco pestiside helmet and motor at an auction. A farmer had it, still new in the box. Well yesterday I was using it while move some moldy wood mulch around. I should have been more careful. After I finished, I put it behind the seat of backhoe. While backing up, the helmet jumped off the tractor and the back wheel crushed it. I'm kicking myself. Can't believe what they want for a new one.

I can get a Jeff Gorden racing helmit for around $200. The Kasco helmet was just a fiber glass shell, no actual protection just air tight.

My 12v pump and filters are good, I just need a helmet. Does anyone have a cheaper helmet?

Pricey, that for sure. Have you talked to KASCO to see if you can buy just the shell ? Still high priced even if they do but surely less than $500 plus.

Maybe Harbor Freight will get them to sell. Don't hold your breath !
 
The link I posted the helmet is $573. The complete outfit is close to $800, AND $1200 with battery back. OUCH!
 
Hate when that happens with something I borrowed. My wife's grandpa borrowed a spade from the neighbor; it broke so he bought the neighbor a new spade, as well as a new spade for himself.

He told my wife (she was a little girl then): "Never borrow anything, if it breaks you will have to buy two. Just go buy what you need".

Neighbor offered me the use of his pole trimmer this week, but I declined and bought one for myself so I would only have to buy one.
 
I didn't borrow it, brother bought it and gave it to me as a gift. I've had it for many years. Yea, good thing I didn't borrow.

I'm looking at some of my old motorcycle helmets instead of paying $500+ for a new one.
