Power of H-F lever chain hoist

A bit of a mire, now its all dry in there. 1 1/2 ton lever chain hoist, of inferior quality, a little help by driving in reverse, a small 6" black cherry, choked at the base, some 60' of chain, some extra junk on the back of the tractor too hook onto, the old backhoe mount, gave a high place to connect, and some hand digging.... friend who helped had his doubts, was pleased to see it worked, was on the fence after he saw it move the mower easily.

Various stages are pictured of the uh... um... well sir you seem to have the ", acute, chronic and or aggressive enstuckment"... my conjured terminology for the offending condition of ones tractor while working thus resulting in the above fiasco requiring a trip to the local H-F... LOL !

It does finally emerge from a 14 day old hole, nice heavy clay/topsoil, decayed vegetation, you'd never know it was tillable crop land, been almost 30 years now since the last crop, was better drained then, and will be again soon !

Curled it forward a few times and used it to push backwards while the line was under tension, most times that's all I've needed to do around here, the ground is solid underneath. Years ago, in the same area, same thing happened and I pushed my way back out, never got stuck and the ruts immediately filled with water. The lever hoist and that small tree really helped, as well as the ground all around it has now dried right out, so I did not have to fight that, just the hole it was in.

Got stuck like that once.My picture looked just like yours.Had to use a 60' chain and a heavy chain come along to pull it out backwards. Each pull was just a few inches at a time.Took awhile.

Nice part of living at top knoll, no spots like that.
Nice to know the HF hoist works that good since we have a local store.

Nope, the actual wetland is at the bottom of the field, its 20 acres, this is just an area in a tillable field that holds water, if it was cleared of brush and put into ag again, like it was for 60 or more years before, it would drain like it used to into the next field. Matte of a fact, I'm going to mow that section right after I walk up to get that tractor, its dried right out, this was the lowest spot. Now if they or any entity had some issue with the above, good luck, they'd had best then go after every single farmer in this area with with wet spots in fields, happens all the time during harvest.

While I seldom shop HF shortly after retiring from the Army I bought a chain hoist, 5 ton from them. I really abused and used it through the years. It finally failed on me 2 years ago. That was 16 years. I can't really complain given the price compared to better hoist. I replaced it with an electric wench. I mounted that to the standard style drawbar for my 8N and have wiring run back to power it. It's remote control too. It's even better than the chain hoist. Course I have a cherry picker now too.
