Behlen Road Gear

Just bought a 1933 F-20 in decent shape nut it has a Behlen Road gear on it that doesn't work. What do you know about these road gears and how they work and possible trouble spots.???? Thanks Henry

pretty simple unit, just shift the trans in neutral and shift the Behlen in gear and go. What does it do? If it doesn't engage maybe shift fork broken or stuck ? Just take the drive coupler off and remove the front cover and take a look at it.

here's a picture of a Behlen on an F-30 , there is a bigger gear that goes on the bottom shaft, not much to it.
