After checking on my cows with my Ford tractor, my neighbor along with 21 other of my friends made about an hour ride to Cycle Moe"s Motorcycle Museum located in the town of Red Boiling Springs, TN. We went to see the motorcycles running in this years "Pre 1937 Motorcycle Cannonball Rally" these folks are riding there bikes from Daytona Beach to Tacoma, Washington. Big crowd on hand to see these really hardcore riders. You can see check them out @ http://www.motorcyclecannonball.com/

Nice pics. I love the old prewar bikes but I know I could never ride one that far. Rode my 69 Sportster from Central Florida to my grandfathers farm in south Georgia back in the mid 80's around 325 miles. Didn't think I would ever get there. Could only go about 75 miles at a time before my hands and my butt were numb from that old Harley vibrating. Broke one of the motor mounts on the way back about 20 miles from home. I just thought it shook before that!

Recognized most of them, some people I used to ride with had them as basic riders or their fathers rides- and the shafty looks close to the ones that show up at Vintage BMW rallies. Had a 1937 UL Harley project- that might have fit in with the WL, knucklehead EL and the half flathead is a JD- so we have a tractor reference. Rudge was about the only one haven"t seen before. RN

Those guys must be tougher'n nails. The 1970 Triumph I had was about as shaky and uncomfortable as they come. My butt would itch after twenty miles, parts shook off on the road the the lights were, well, I called it the Prince of Darkness for lack of a better description.

No way my body would take that.
I road a panhead from Michigan to Florida and back once.
Won't ever do that again either!

I went to see them at the Harley Davidson dealer in Clarksville, TN., which is where they went after Red Boiling Springs. Nice to hear the old bikes running, and met Jerry Wieland and his wife and old Harley there. A few of the riders were commenting on sore parts of their anatomy already.

Cool looking bikes but I wouldn't want to do it. I remember back in the 1980s when I worked at IBP - lots of Harley riders. It seemed every story they told about taking them on a trip ended with "I called my buddy with a pickup and we hauled it home".
