John Deere LA-series mower

I have an LA145 mower that I purchased second-hand several years ago. The side of the mower deck has a garden-hose-sized fitting on it. Does someone know what this is used for? I've wondered for years but never asked anyone.

I believe you hook a garden hose to it and turn on the deck and then the water and wash out the deck.Haven't seen it done but have heard about it.

Yes...I work in the factory where it was built. That is your wash out port.

Mine stays stopped up with dirt dobbers, so I quit using it.

Yes, it's a wash out port. Never used one, always afraid it would get water in the spindles.

I suspect the reason for it would be to prevent spread of certain lawn diseases, insects, or weeds if used on multiple properties.

Yep that's what they do we use one so times on our craftsman riding mower not sure of the model

Yup wash out. Have em on three of my mowers. Hook the hose up, engage the deck, run aboutbhalf throttle. Loosen up all the stuck grass and dirt and flushes the deck clean.
