Tractor/Equipment nicknames

One of my students was talking the other day in school with me about the gleaner combine his brother just bought. He called it a "Galvanized Re-Seeder." I got a chuckle out of it, and it got me to thinking, what are some of the other nicknames for farm equipment that you've heard?

First one that comes to mind because we had one was the IH pickup-trucks everyone called "corn binders". We all know the nick-name for manure spreaders.

New Holland chain baler Hay piler

Truck with Dayton wheels Manure spreader,Rotary hoe Devil's back scratcher

"D" handle shovel E-3 Backhoe(military)

Some not fit to say

Well, down below on Tales, they use names like "Farmalittle" "Jack Sheep" and "Oilyallover". Does that count?

Crossed the Mackinac Bridge with a buddy whose tractor wasn't running very, suspect a dirty carb. I told him to name it "nnalert", never know when it's going to run.

Wife calls my 3600 "the Buck mobile". If I forget
to idle it down before shutting it off, I get 3
steps away and get a backfire through the muffler.
No run on like uncle bucks car, just a 15 second
delay bang.

Call John Deeres jonny poppers and I know International was "corn binder" . That is WAY back cause so few people know what a corn binder was. One guy called his Allis Chalmers a "Allie charm" jeffcat

My uncles family always called the, well I don't even know,
404, 414, some such model international? Little loader tractor
the Yuke.

Was called that for years and years before anyone even asked
why.

I guess when my uncle brought it home, his son said It was
like a little ukulele compared to the other tractors....

Buddy of mine had a round baller that never really
made a round bale. We called it his 'lump
maker'....

First pic, the Pasquali 986 "Guido".

Second pic, the '38 F-14 "TRM" or The Red Menace.

Sounds like the Deere baler the neighbor had. Just a big pile in the field. One real hot summer when the kids were quite young, they were riding past a field of those bales with my Dad. Keith said "Look Grandpa,it's so hot, those bales are melting".

I've been known to call an International 2+2 an ant eater. We had a neighbor with a Ford tractor with a select-o-speed transmission he called it his jerk-o-matic

The Gleaners I've heard everything except the pheasant feeders.

Most often I call mine SOB but only when I'm working on it.

We had an IH 674 bought new in 1977 ( and subsequently traded in '83 ) and while we had it we were so tired of having to repair it / send it back to the dealers to be repaired that we christened it "Sick -of -it seven four"

Had an old Moline we called Fat Albert and
a case dc we called Lina. Dads favorite, a
case 730 he called The little hustler.
Sadly it was anything but a hustler.

98 olds Intrigue hope that's how it's spelled, Called it a "Money Pit". After the movie and for other reasons.

I called my old Freightliner "frieghtshaker". NOT a smooth
ride.

I run a Peterbilt now and can't say what I call it.

Neighbours CIH585 was called Peppy. Their CIH JX70 was called
Peppy Deux when it ran. The next tractor was a IH584 that was all
rusty, broken 3point and the pto ran all the time and was called
s__tty Peppy.

Any MF products are now "Massey-fer-Cussin", the root goes back to a MF12 baler bought new in the 60s. After 150,000 or so bales over 3-4 years it became incredibly unreliable. My kids got wind of the baler's name from an older relative, and have applied it to my combine, baler, and any other MF they see.
