just a quick update on Dad. First of all, we have brought him a laptop to try. His new digs are a little cramped as he has a room mate. Hopefully, the keyboard will be agreeable. He is doing a great deal better in the new nursing home. Practical people, who actually care. I had to make a sudden, decision to move him, so all of this was unexpected and unplanned. I won"t go into details over the internet. Unfortunately for me and him, he is now 200 miles west of home near the Texas Panhandle. He is surrounded by family here as well and he actually gets to visit with some of his dairy friends on a regular basis as they have family in the same home. All in all a much better situation. He did not get to go to Iowa when we buried Mother"s ashes. Big disappointment, but we did skype the service so he could participate remotely.

Thank you for letting us know how he is doing.

I am sure your trying to do the best you can for your Dad. There is no manual that says what is the right thing to do. I would say just watching how your Dad is treated goes along way in keeping him in a safe and healthy place.

What a relief. I'll bet his attatude improves as the days go by. We are looking forward to his input. Thanks for making a difference. Jim

idleknotfarm,
Didn't communicate with your dad a lot on this forum... but always enjoyed reading his posts.

He and your mom remind me so much of my folks (both gone now, we lost dad early this year).

Hope you are blessed with more time yet to spend with him.

Neat that he is computer-savy! Though my dad was not... I was still blessed (by siblings helping Dad) to be able to Skype with him from 4 states away in his last months, days and hours of life.

Wish you all well.

Thanks for the update- glad to hear he's in an improved situation. Hope he'll get familiar enough with the laptop to give us a shout one of these days.

I had a laptop for awhile, and could never get used to the keyboard or the touchpad for maneuvering. You can get a wireless keyboard and mouse, if he's having that problem, and it will be just like using the old desktop that he's familiar with.

Thank you for the update. It's good to know he is in a better home. We have always enjoyed his posts and look forward to more. So sorry he couldn't make the trip to Iowa.

To a certain degree I can relate to his situation, and yours too. The first nursing home my dad was in was not a good place at all. Like you I won't go into details but we got him out of there and into a much better facility after just two weeks of very inadequate care in the first one. Keep us updated. Jim

Thanks for the update.I've enjoyed his posts and have exchanged some emails.Had been wondering about him. Steve

Thank you for the update on Graydon.

It is good to know that he is in a better nursing home facility.

Glad to hear that he is closer to both family and friends and that y'all can visit him regularly.

Please let him know that several of us are thinking of him and look forward to his return on YT.
