Weather Foercast off by a Mile

It's pouring like the cow and the proverbial flat rock. Checked the weather radar and it predicted A 10-20% chance all night. If any other job was off that often they'd be fired. Shouldn't last long, but northern Michigan looks to be in the path of heavy storms. Batten down T.C.

The forecast is for 60% for us for next week, which usually means that we won't get any rain. I've seen 80% chance not give us a drop of moisture; that's just the way it is in the desert.

Snowbirds hate it when it rains during the winter; we'll take rain any time we can get it.
 
We had about a 10 minute sprinkle this morning was all. Everything else that's rolled through has missed us. No complaints,I've got some hay on the ground.
 

I have to give those guys a lot of credit. I can see a front of storms coming across towards me on the radar and they can tell three days in advance that the storms will be held off to the south by high pressure. Fast forward three days, and yes the storms are headed for me but they pass twenty miles to the south and the skies stay clear. I would like to see any other future tellers match it.
 
Just took a drive up around Manistee Lake and Starvation Lake in here Kalkaska County where the tornado went through Monday afternoon. Wasn't huge compared to what they get out west, but bad enough for Northern Michigan. It was starting to storm, bet the people who live there were nervous.
 
I don't get it. The forecast predicted a 10-20% chance of rain. It rained. How is that "off?"

No rain is 0%.
 
I usually check NOAA and the weather channel site and have pretty good luck. Any more than 20% chance I won't mow, but this year they seemed to jump around a lot.
At ten in the morning there might be a 20% chance for tomorrow - check again at 2 and it's 50% (or vice versa) Of course, weather forecasting in this part of the country is a tough job
