Clutch went out of my old 966 today

Shortly after I took thi pic unloading the combine, and had started back into the swaths. I needed to stop for a heavy slug, pushed on the clutch, she slowed down a bit, then just kept going. Fortunately the combine didn't bung. Still had two more combine grain tanks to go to finish this field. So with no clutch, I had to just shutter down to stop and unload. Then starter in gear on the roll. Can't do that with them new tractors ! Any how still have other fiefs to do, so I will put the monitor in the Kubota. I have had this 966 for nine years, purchased it from the origin owner. I think that this was the original clutch. Bruce

Bruce. What's your 20? I'm in meadow lake, SK. We have done a couple of clutches in a 1086 and one 886 where I work. Nothing a couple of hours and there split. Have never ventured into an international TA. But the clutch jobs are not to bad. Some guys have started combining peas around here. Other than that everything is two weeks late.

Most likely the vibration damper has failed in the clutch disk. When they come apart the pieces can jam the disk so it doesn't release.

It shouldn't be too bad of a job, but you can mark me and my Dad off your list for potential helpers. We've done enough big tractor splits in the last two years to last us for a while.

My 966 has the white stripe. I know one of these days, my clutch will go. have to let the clutch pedal almost all the way up before the clutch engages. over 9000 hours on it and doesn't get more than 20 0r 30 hours a year on it.

Ours always released that way. You almost couldn't let it out without tearing your head off. It was a joy to use to pull start something. Still one of my favorite tractors.
